<p>The Senior Traffic Signal Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of traffic signal systems and related equipment. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of traffic control devices throughout the jurisdiction. Skillfully and safely operates and maintains a bucket truck, assists the operator of a digger derrick, light ground equipment and maintenance equipment, tractors, skid steer, as well as a variety of hand tools and equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoots, and repairs, solid state and other traffic signal equipment. Performs preventative and emergency maintenance on traffic signals and lighting</p> </li><li> <p>Repairs and replaces conduits, wiring and other signal hardware as needed. Performs basic-electrical work using electrical test equipment, such as DMM, as required</p> </li><li> <p>Installs, maintains vehicle identification and detection systems. Follow electrical and engineering drawings and specifications. Work with live voltage</p> </li><li> <p>Work outdoors in adverse conditions. Work with agility in high places. Ability to be on-call status on a rotating shift for emergency conditions</p> </li><li> <p>This is a supervisor role that will require the ability to patiently work with newer technicians to get them trained to do job duties safe and efficiently</p> </li><li> <p>The ability to work with direct supervisor to schedule and plan any projects related to the area assigned to</p> </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 3 to 5 years' experience in electrical maintenance, or related work</p> <p>OR </p> <p>Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted</p> <p>Licenses or Certifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire</p> </li><li> <p>Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire</p> </li><li> <p>Work Zone Safety, Flagger, and Work Zone Supervisor certification</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Skilled at troubleshooting, ability to read and understand detailed prints and schematics</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to lead a crew and ability to work with others especially in emergency / high pressure situations</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate safely, a digger derrick</p> </li></ul> <p>ADA and Other Requirements: </p> <p> </p> <p>Work Environment and Physical Effort: </p> <p>Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. </p> <p>  </p> <p>Work Environment: </p> <p>Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment, street environment (near moving traffic), construction site, or in a vehicle. Employees may occasionally work in a shop environment. </p> <p>  </p> <p>Work Exposures: </p> <p>There is frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals or substances and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction).
