<p>This is an onsite position sitting out of Quincy, Illinois</p> <p>Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Join a prestigious team that has been providing high-quality, work-ready transportation solutions.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Support assembly operations with the necessary tooling and processes efficiently and timely. </li><li>Evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement. </li><li>Define, document, and implement new and modified manufacturing processes. </li><li>Provide line support for assembly operations, including transport, welding, coatings, and finishing processes. </li><li>Create and maintain detailed process documentation for manufacturing processes. </li><li>Design, source, and manage tooling and equipment projects. </li><li>Gather and organize data for projects requiring capital investment. </li><li>Follow procedures for the creation and control of fixtures, lifting devices, and material handling equipment. </li><li>Lead customer groups on factory tours. </li><li>Apply advanced manufacturing engineering skills, such as Lean and Theory of Constraints. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. </li><li>0-1 years Proficiency in manufacturing engineering. </li><li>Experience with Solidworks or other solid modeling software. </li><li>Strong communication skills, especially on the shop floor. </li><li>Knowledge of metal fabrication, fixture design, and process improvement. </li><li>Familiarity with manufacturing methods with an emphasis on welding, finishing, and assembly of light-gauge steel or aluminum. </li><li>Proficiency in MS Office. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. </li><li>Experience in production support, tool design, and rack design. </li><li>Capability to create custom tooling and implement it into the process. </li><li>Experience in continuous improvement, including dent reduction and increased throughput. </li><li>Familiarity with automation and implementation of new robots and cobots. </li><li>Strong organizational and analytical skills. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The role involves working in both office and manufacturing floor settings, primarily in the steel plant, with some projects in the aluminum plant. The team consists of approximately 8 engineers and 3-4 technicians. This is a union shop, so effective communication and relationship building with operators are essential.
