<p>Actalent is hiring for an Analytical Chemist in the Aurora area!</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>As a Chemist level 1, you will be responsible for assisting and carrying out chemical analysis and designed experimental activities related to environmental testing. Your focus will be in the chromatography department where you will be extracting and analyzing samples for volatile and semi-volatile organics. You will be responsible for following SOPs, extracting samples, analyzing and entering data. You will work with both water and soil samples, primarily using GCMS and GCFID. You will also be asked to work in wet chemistry and with various other instruments depending on the sample volume.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Follow SOPs </li><li>Perform multi-step procedures </li><li>Acquire and interpret analytical data from GC, GCMS, and GCFID </li><li>Summarize results, aid in writing technical reports and procedures, and present information to the technical team </li><li>Work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment </li><li>Critically think </li><li>Reinforce safe work practices </li><li>Receive initial and annual training; handle and dispose of hazardous wastes </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors or Master's Degree in a physical science, preferably chemistry </li><li>Environmental lab experience, preferably in volatiles or with a GCMS </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with GCMS, GC, GCFID, SVOC, LIMS, sample preparation, and inorganics samples </li><li>Familiarity with 8260 and 8270 methods, and EPA regulations </li><li>Analytical chemistry: 2 years </li><li>Gas chromatography: 2 years </li><li>Experience from regulated industries such as food or water testing </li></ul> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $28.85/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
