<p>Job Summary/Basic Function:</p> <p>The Campus Planner, Intermediate provides critical support to the Executive Director of Campus Planning and Space Management (CPSM) and contributes to the development and implementation of the University's long-range physical plans by managing planning projects, conducting analyses, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and fostering relationships with internal and external partners. This role requires a solid understanding of campus planning principles, strong project management and analytical skills, political sensitivity and excellent communication abilities. This position also requires a high-level understanding of confidential campus strategic goals and visions to inform recommendations for projects.</p> <p>This position is not eligible for VISA Sponsorship.</p> <p>This position may have the opportunity to work hybrid where a mix of in-person work from a Boise State worksite and an alternative work location is utilized, within the state of Idaho. Candidates must be able to work on-site as needed.</p> <p>Department Overview:</p> <p>Campus Planning supports university leadership in the capital planning and budgeting processes to ensure annual budgets, multi-year plans and individual projects align with the university's strategic vision and the campus master plan. The goal of Campus Planning is to provide university departments with collaborative, comprehensive and efficient planning tools and analysis resulting in a clear scope, budget and schedule for their projects.</p> <p>Space Management is responsible for the management of over 6 million gross square feet of university space as well as maintaining the official building list and performing analyses of current and future space needs for Boise State. By providing programming studies, space utilization reports and space needs assessments, the space management team is able to inform budget decisions that are crucial to the day-to-day operation and growth of the university.</p> <p>Level Scope:</p> <p>Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees. Typically hold a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>? Master Plan Contribution:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct independent analysis and contribute to the development and updates of the campus master plan. </li><li>Develop and oversee planning concepts and recommendations for specific areas of the campus. </li><li>Prepare reports, presentations, and visual aids to communicate planning proposals and opportunities </li><li>Facilitate focused stakeholder meetings and incorporate feedback into planning documents. </li></ul> <p>? Pre-Planning Project Management:</p> <ul> <li>Manage the pre-planning phases of smaller to medium-sized capital projects, ensuring alignment with the campus master plan. </li><li>Define project scope, objectives, and requirements in collaboration with stakeholders. </li><li>Develop preliminary project concepts, conduct feasibility studies and develop high level cost estimates </li><li>Coordinate communication with architects, engineers, and other consultants during early project phases. </li><li>Prepare project briefs and pre-planning documentation. </li></ul> <p>? Data Analysis and Reporting:</p> <ul> <li>Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data related to campus demographics, infrastructure, and other relevant factors to inform strategic planning decisions. </li><li>Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and visualizations to communicate planning findings and recommendations. </li></ul> <p>? Strategic Stakeholder Engagement:</p> <ul> <li>Cultivate and maintain strong relationships on planning issues with key internal stakeholders, including but not limited to senior leadership, college deans and department chairs, representatives in the Provost's office, Student Affairs, Campus Operations, the Department of Public Safety and others </li></ul> <p>? Community and Agency Liaison:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a point of contact and liaison between the University and the City of Boise, ACHD, and neighborhood associations on specific planning projects and planning efforts in general. </li><li>Coordinate with external agencies to ensure project alignment with local regulations and community interests; assist with the preparation of entitlement applications for university projects </li><li>Represent the University at relevant external meetings and communicate community feedback internally. </li></ul> <p>? Permanent Building Fund (PBF) submittal and Capital Plan Coordination:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate the annual PBF submittal for major capital projects, alteration and repair projects, deferred maintenance, and accessibility projects. </li><li>Coordinate the prioritization of capital project needs requests (CPNR) and convey information to requestors. </li><li>Contribute to the development and maintenance of the University's 6-year capital projects plan, tracking project progress and proposing updates. </li></ul> <p>? Mentorship and Guidance:</p> <ul> <li>Provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level planning staff and/or student interns. </li></ul> <p>Perform other duties as assigned</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:</p> <p>? Demonstrated understanding of campus planning principles, practices, and trends.</p> <p>? Proven project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.</p> <p>? Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.</p> <p>? Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.</p> <p>? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).</p> <p>? Ability to work independently and collaboratively.</p> <p>? The ability to read and understand architectural building drawings and specifications.</p> <p>? Able to lead cross-functional groups to come to a common recommendation, consent or consensus.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>? Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, public administration, finance, or a related field.</p> <p>? At least three (3) years of professional experience in campus planning, capital project planning, urban planning, community development, or a related field.</p> <p>? At least one (1) year of experience working in a university environment.</p> <p>Salary and Benefits:</p> <p>Starting salary is $73,548.80/yr and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
