<p>The Head Men's Basketball Coach supports student-athlete academic success, recruits prospective student-athletes following the College's mission and student-athlete recruitment procedures, and plans and directs the applicable sports program/athletic team. The Head Men's Basketball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree required </li><li>Master's Degree desired </li><li>Previous demonstrated experience as a college basketball coach preferred </li><li>Coaching experience in the state of Mississippi preferred </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and lead a progressive and innovative basketball program in accordance with the policies of The Mississippi Association of Community College Conference and The National Junior College Athletic Association. </li><li>Ensure the program adheres to the mission, vision and values of the institution. </li><li>Recruit student athletes of strong character, who reflect the values of the institution and are excellent representatives of the college on and off the court. </li><li>Along with the Athletic Academic Advisor, track and ensure the academic success of all basketball players. </li><li>Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the program. </li><li>Purchase necessary equipment and uniforms. </li><li>In coordination with Volleyball and Women's Basketball, conduct regularly scheduled practices in Howard Coliseum. </li><li>Ensure that all basketball players meet NJCAA eligibility requirements. </li><li>Work with MACCC coaches and the MACCC Commissioner to develop the yearly schedule. </li><li>Make all travel arrangements for away games and tournaments. </li><li>Plan and conduct summer camps in accordance with the policies of the institution. </li><li>With the assistance of the Director of Athletics, engage in fundraising activities for the team and the athletic program as a whole. </li><li>Effectively communicate to the Director of Athletics regarding the activities of the basketball team. </li><li>Work closely with the Director of Athletics to promote the program. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to take initiative to solve problems. </li><li>Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. </li><li>Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and Internet use. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public. </li><li>Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team. </li><li>Must be a "quick study" to quickly grasp and retain knowledge of policies and procedures relating to student services that a prospective or current student may utilize. </li><li>Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals. </li><li>Flexible schedule is required to meet department needs, as some evenings, weekends, and extended hours may be required. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do the following:</p> <ul> <li>Stand for long periods </li><li>Talk, hear, view, and assist students </li><li>Communicate with others in person, telephone, zoom and live chat </li><li>Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms </li><li>Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel </li><li>Occasionally lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds </li></ul> <p>APPLICATION:</p> <p>To apply, please attach and submit the following:</p> <ul> <li>Application at www.northwestms.edu </li><li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>Transcripts </li><li>Three (3) Professional References </li></ul>
