<p>Hiring Department</p> <p>MizzouRec Services and Facilities is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides quality leisure experiences to all members of the campus community, primarily Mizzou students. Through our facilities and programs, we strive to bring our members and guests an environment that inspires and promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. MizzouRec enhances the student experience by creating a sense of welcome with its vast services, facilities, and programming - in addition to its unique connection to campus history and traditions.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>The Fitness Program Lead works directly with the Fitness Coordinator to help run the Fitness Programs, specifically TigerX/Group Fitness Program. The Fitness Program Lead acts as a liaison between assigned staff and the Fitness Coordinator to ensure policies and procedures are being followed, in addition to instructing fitness classes.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Fitness Coordinator with administrative responsibilities, including tracking certifications, managing JPA evaluations, filing, and performing other duties as assigned. </li><li>Serve as a resource for Fitness Programs staff regarding policies, procedures, announcements, and program requirements. Act as a primary point of communication with staff and discuss any issues with the Fitness Coordinator as needed. </li><li>Report broken or malfunctioning equipment to the Fitness Coordinator and collaborate on identifying and implementing solutions to resolve the issue. </li><li>Keep instructors informed of appropriate and inappropriate techniques to ensure the safety of both the instructor and the client. </li><li>Conduct job-specific orientations and meetings for all new Fitness Program employees in assigned areas. </li><li>Evaluate new instructors in assigned areas at least once during their first semester and provide feedback to both the instructor and their mentor. </li><li>Maintain weekly office hours to meet with assigned Fitness Programs staff. </li><li>Attend weekly classes taught by assigned Fitness Programs staff to ensure program expectations and policies are being met. Audit staff throughout the semester and provide necessary feedback. </li><li>Train assigned staff on risk-management policies and emergency action plans. </li></ul> <p>Additional Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Attend all staff meetings and trainings. </li><li>Assist facility and programming staff as needed. </li><li>Adhere to all University, MizzouRec, Team Mizzou, and area-specific guidelines. </li><li>As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve and maintain our departmental and Student Affairs mission. </li></ul> <p>Anticipated Hiring Range</p> <p>$16.00 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.</p> <p>Salary Range: $16.00 per hour</p> <p>Grade: GGS MKT</p> <p>University Title: Student Assistant Crafts and Service</p> <p>Internal applicants can determine their University tile by accessing the Talent Profile in myHR.</p> <p>Shift</p> <p>Average hours per week: 5.</p> <p>Students set their own weekly work schedule in coordination with the department, with up to 4 hours per week designated as office hours.</p> <p>This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Current national fitness certification, including but not limited to: ACE GFI, AFAA GFI, ACSM GFI, Zumba Basics Level 1, Turbo Kick, YogaFit Level 1 or higher, 200 RYT or higher, Pilates certification (Peak Pilates, Balanced Body, Fletcher Method), ACE PT, AFAA PT, ACSM CPT, NASM CPT, NSCA CPT, or other certifications as approved by the Fitness Coordinator. </li><li>Preferred experience of two or more semesters with MizzouRec. </li><li>Knowledge of and experience instructing Yoga, Pilates, and/or Cycling fitness classes. </li><li>Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to provide feedback in a constructive and professional manner. </li><li>Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies, including how to effectively incorporate music, tempo, cueing techniques, and rhythm. </li><li>Ability to cooperate and work effectively as part of a staff team. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead others. </li><li>Ability to multitask and complete assigned job duties efficiently. </li></ul> <p>Application Materials</p> <p>Complete application, and upload the following: résumé, certification(s), class schedule, cover letter, and 3 or more references which must include at least 1 MU supervisor (if applicable).
