<p>Job Description</p> <p>Reports To: Campus Leader</p> <p>Work Location: JH Knox Intermediate, Salisbury, NC</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt 10-month employee</p> <p>Position Purpose</p> <p>The Core Content Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, rigorous instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies.</p> <p>At Knox, teachers play a central role in realizing the school's mission - Engaged Today. Transforming Tomorrow. - by ensuring that all students experience learning that is relevant, challenging, and connected to the real world.</p> <p>Teachers embody the Core Commitments of:</p> <ul> <li>Rigorous Learning for All </li><li>Deep & Meaningful Engagement </li><li>Real-World Relevance </li><li>Wellness & Belonging </li></ul> <p>Key Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Instructional Design & Delivery</p> <ul> <li>Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons that foster critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving. </li><li>Design instruction aligned to school and district curricular goals. </li><li>Clearly communicate learning objectives and success criteria. </li><li>Integrate project-based and inquiry-based learning experiences </li><li>Design assessments and feedback cycles that promote growth and reflection. </li><li>Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of all learners. </li></ul> <p>Classroom Culture & Relationships</p> <ul> <li>Establish a safe, inclusive, and joyful classroom culture grounded in restorative practices and belonging. </li><li>Facilitate Student Strong Start routines to build connection and readiness each day. </li><li>Establish and maintain clear expectations and procedures for student behavior, movement, participation, and transitions. </li><li>Model respect, curiosity, and empathy in interactions with students and colleagues. </li><li>Treat all students in a fair, equitable, and respectful manner. </li></ul> <p>Monitoring Student Learning & Feedback</p> <ul> <li>Maintain clear academic expectations, work standards, and timelines. </li><li>Monitor student learning during instruction through questioning, observation, and analysis of student work. </li><li>Provide timely, specific, and growth-oriented feedback on classwork and assignments. </li><li>Use diagnostic, formative, and summative data to adjust instruction and support student progress. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress. </li></ul> <p>Professional Collaboration and Growth</p> <ul> <li>Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on data, student work, and instructional improvement. </li><li>Collaborate with academic coaches and CCL Team to integrate relevance and real-world application into lessons. </li><li>Engage in Adult Strong Start and ongoing professional development. </li><li>Reflect on practice and demonstrate continuous professional growth aligned to school priorities. </li></ul> <p>Communication & Family Partnership</p> <ul> <li>Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress, learning goals, and celebrations. </li><li>Collaborate with the Family & Community Engagement Coordinator to involve parents and guardians in learning experiences. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Valid North Carolina Teaching License in the relevant subject area. </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Education or the appropriate content field. </li><li>Demonstrated success improving student outcomes. </li><li>Strong instructional and classroom management skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in Education or Curriculum & Instruction. </li><li>Experience with project-based learning or career-connected instruction. </li><li>Familiarity with restorative practices and SEL integration. </li><li>Commitment to continuous professional growth. </li></ul> <p>Professional Expectations</p> <ul> <li>Participate in Adult Strong Start and contribute to a culture of reflection and collaboration. </li><li>Maintain high expectations and a growth mindset for all learners. </li><li>Integrate Knox's mission and Core Commitments into daily instruction. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Leader or Campus Leader. </li></ul>
