<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education, Training, and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Completion of a Department of Labor (DOL) Laborer Apprenticeship Program OR </li><li>Completion of a City of Chicago Laborer Apprenticeship Program OR </li><li>At least two (2) years of work experience as a Laborer performing construction work with the City of Chicago OR </li><li>At least four (4) years of work experience as a Construction Laborer </li></ul> <p>Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a valid State of Illinois Driver's License </li><li>Assignments requiring the operation of a forklift will require positions to be trained and evaluated by the employer prior to the assignment, as required by OSHA standards administered by the Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) </li></ul> <p>NOTE: APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM CERTIFICATE(S), JOURNEYMAN CARD AND RESUME MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF PROCESSING.</p> <p>NOTE: Candidates selected for hire must pass a Ground Motor Vehicle Operating Regulation Basic Driving test (Yellow Stripe) administered by the Chicago Department of Aviation within six months of hire.</p> <p>Additional Aviation Requirements: Candidate(s) selected for hire must pass a background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA).</p> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds) required </li><li>Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time </li><li>Ability to quickly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with one's body, arms, and/or legs </li><li>Ability to move one's hands and arms to grasp or manipulate objects </li><li>Ability to access difficult to enter spaces (e.g., trenches, tunnels, cramped quarters) </li><li>Ability to operate applicable hand tools, power tools, and equipment </li></ul> <p>SELECTION REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>This position does not require a test or interview. Applicants who successfully apply for the position, meet the minimum qualifications, and possess the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be hired in a lottery/random order. Qualified bidders will be hired in seniority order according to the collective bargaining agreement.</p> <p>APPLICATION EVALUATION: Initial evaluation will be based on information provided on the application and the documents submitted. The Department of Human Resource staff will review applications after the final posting date. Staff will follow any and all required Employment/Hiring Plan provisions, federal, state and local laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements when applicable. Staff will apply hiring preferences as required by the municipal code. Placement on an eligibility list is not an offer or guarantee of an interview nor employment with the City of Chicago.</p> <p>COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY: To further our commitment to hiring applicants with diverse experience the City of Chicago has adopted the following ordinances 2-74-020 and 2-74-075.
