<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Under the general direction of the Vice President of Facilities, the Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator will develop, maintain and promote policies, procedures, programs and training necessary to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Ensure college compliance with federal, state and local environmental health and safety laws, codes, regulations, ordinances and licenses while minimizing institutional liability. This is a part-time (24 hours per week), non-exempt position.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ol> <li>Health & Safety Compliance: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Collaborate with all college departments and units to develop, implement and promote health or safety monitoring and training. Develop and implement solutions to environmental health and safety problems; </li><li>Work with faculty and staff to remediate problems that present a low to moderate health or safety hazard. Additionally, work with Buildings and Grounds to quickly address serious health and safety problems. Discontinue the operation of any college activity or function that is imminently life threatening in consultation with the appropriate person(s) and / or committee(s); </li><li>Serve as the campus fire marshal. Coordinate fire drills as required with the Department of Public Safety and Buildings and Grounds. Assist with formulating disaster plan for the college to include evacuation plan and emergency response plan. Responsible for posting plans in all buildings on campus; </li><li>Review work stations for ergonomic concerns, make recommendations for remediation. Order and conduct post installation inspections of remedial equipment; </li><li>Serve as a resource to and / or participate on college committees (up to and including chairing them) responsible for environmental health and safety. Participating in related committees such as Disability and Emergency Planning. Assist committees with problem identification and remediation, policy development, procedures, committee charges and compliance issues. Work with academic and administrative departments on assessing health and safety risks and make recommendations for remediation; </li><li>Assist the College in interactions and negotiations with environmental health and safety regulatory agencies, including OSHA, Massachusetts DEP and EPA. Coordinate external agency reviews and inspections. Ensure appropriate institutional response to agency concerns, findings, requests and citations. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Records & Training </li></ol> <ul> <li>Maintain the environmental health and safety records for the college. To include but not limited to SDS sheets, Tier II reports, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plans, hazardous waste disposal manifest, training record, etc.; </li><li>Audit laboratory spaces, workshops, processes, chemical storage areas, and other areas on an annual basis. Submit reports and maintain all related documentation of these audits. Maintain a recurring-items spreadsheet of items needing to be completed on a recurring basis (reports, inspections, permits, etc.); </li><li>Set up and monitor training for staff, seasonal employees, faculty and students as required for Bloodborne Pathogen Training, Safe Driver Training, Safe Lifting, Personal Protective Equipment Training, spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Training, Asbestos Awareness, Golf Cart Safety and other State, Federal and college requirements; </li><li>Prepare budgets and monitor expenses against budget. </li></ul> <p>Additional Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy; </li><li>AED devices inspections performed monthly and batteries in all units changed annually; </li><li>Perform other related duties as directed. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Successful performance of this position demands consistent demonstration of the following uncompromised performance characteristics: </li><li>Demonstrates a genuine commitment to concern for achieving or surpassing results against legitimate and increasingly elevated standards of excellence, showing passion for continually improving the delivery of services. </li><li>Exhibits a high degree of initiative for bringing tasks to successful completion and succeeding in achieving stated goals. </li><li>Ability to assess employee "needs" and "wants" to deliver positive and professional outcomes. Implements decisive action appropriate to the position; assesses needs and concerns of the workplace environment in order to address current or future challenges. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Industrial Engineering (or a closely related field).
