<p>Description</p> <p>Arts on a Roll is a mobile, on demand program within the Community Arts team of the Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County, MD. We are seeking enthusiastic artists and arts educators to lead classes, design workshops, develop curriculum, and assist at events for visual and performing arts programs. Our instructors represent a range of artistic backgrounds and varied levels of expertise.</p> <p>As an Arts on a Roll Lead Teaching Artist, you will interface with program participants of all ages at a variety of events, from specialty workshops to Girls and Boys Scouts meetings, summer camps, after school programs, and county and city-wide festivals. Teaching Artists will collaborate with our roster of teaching artists to provide high quality programming, courteous customer service, and to foster a respectful and inspiring work environment.</p> <p>This is a flexible, gig-based position based on the needs of the program and the availability of our teaching artists. We seek candidates with a passion for the arts as well as community-based programming and civic engagement, and we provide opportunities for artistic collaboration, personal growth, and professional development.</p> <p>For more information about the Seasonal Hiring process and application status for Prince George's County Parks and Recreation, please contact Joelle Edmond,Joelle.Edmond@pgparks.comor Brenda MillerBrenda.Miller@Pgparks.com.</p> <p>Examples of Important Duties</p> <p>Lead Art Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Lead engaging and accessible art workshops for diverse age groups and skill levels. </li><li>Demonstrate various art techniques, media, and creative approaches tailored to each session. </li><li>Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. </li></ul> <p>Community Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants in community settings. </li><li>Represent Arts on a Roll at public events, schools, libraries and festivals. </li><li>Build positive relationships with community partners, schools, and participants. </li><li>Encourage creativity and self-expression while promoting the value of the arts. </li></ul> <p>Event Setup & Logistics</p> <ul> <li>Lead the setup and breakdown of mobile arts programming, ensuring a smooth and efficient process. </li><li>Transport and organize art materials, equipment, and supplies for each event. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of workspaces before, during, and after workshops. </li><li>Troubleshoot on-site challenges and ensure a seamless experience for participants. </li></ul> <p>Curriculum & Program Development</p> <ul> <li>Develop and refine lesson plans that align with Arts on a Roll's mission and educational goals. </li><li>Incorporate cultural and historical perspectives into workshops to enhance learning. </li><li>Stay informed about trends in arts education and community-based programming. </li><li>Provide feedback on programming effectiveness and suggest improvements. </li></ul> <p>Administrative & Professional Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Complete required reports, attendance records, and evaluations after each workshop. </li><li>Communicate effectively with Arts on a Roll staff regarding scheduling, materials, and logistics. </li><li>Ensure the safety of participants by adhering to organizational guidelines and policies. </li><li>Participate in training, meetings, and professional development opportunities </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Enthusiasm for arts education and ability to work with students of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels. </li><li>Lead Teachers need a minimum of one year of experience teaching in the field of visual arts, music, theater, or dance, as well as strong classroom management and lesson planning skills. </li><li>Weekend and evening availability. </li><li>A valid driver's license and willingness to drive throughout Prince George's County, MD, and the greater Washington, D.C., area. </li><li>Compliance with Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation employment requirements, including fingerprinting and background check </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.</p> <p>The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
