<p>Description of Job Duty:</p> <p>Our School is home to approximately 240 students. We offer two Bachelor of Science Degrees: Human Ecology and Design Studies. Within Design Studies, we offer two concentrations: Architecture and Interior Design and Fashion Merchandising and Design. The TTU design program is accredited by the National Association of Art and Design (NASAD).</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>The School of Human Ecology seeks candidates committed to innovative teaching and creative service. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching undergraduate courses in design studies, design theory, and interior design. Expectations of this position include teaching four classes per semester, including design labs or studios, and meaningful service to the university, community and profession.</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Those typical of any classroom-type environment or office environment. Ability to move around computer stations in lab setting to assist students with software.</p> <p>Special Instructions:</p> <p>Applicants will be required to electronically upload a letter of application that addresses the required qualifications and duties, curriculum vitae (with pertinent experience), copies of graduate transcripts (official transcripts for all degrees conferred required upon hire), teaching philosophy, and email addresses for two references at time of application. References will be contacted via email to provide a reference letter if selected for an interview. Submission of materials is the applicant's responsibility. Applications without all required materials are considered incomplete and will not be considered.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2026. Three-year contract renewable based on satisfactory performance review and needs of the department.</p> <p>Benefits Information:</p> <p>Tennessee Tech offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits include the accumulation of one (1) sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>A master's degree in interior design or closely related field by the appointment date from an accredited institution. </li><li>Teaching experience in interior design as an instructor in higher education with evidence of teaching excellence and knowledge of various teaching modalities in higher education. </li><li>Oral and written communication skills at a level appropriate to convey information to and from students, colleagues and others in a clear manner. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Professional practice experience in Interior Design by date of hire, either having passed the NCIDQ exam or meeting eligibility requirements to take the exam. </li><li>Experience and competency in relevant industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Sketchup). </li><li>WELL AP, NKBA or other relevant certification(s). </li><li>Demonstrated evidence of coordinating undergraduate design labs/studios. </li></ul>
