<p>Account Clerk JobID: 1981</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Classified Staff/Account Clerk</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/24/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Multiple Locations</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>06/30/2024</p> <p>Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Applicant must have participated in the Nassau County Civil Service exam given on 10/19/24 and appear on list #40372024.</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>Performs routine clerical work involving the keeping of financial records and accounts; performs related duties as required.</p> <p>Job Summary: COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:</p> <p>Under direct supervision, this is routine clerical work involving the exercise of a working knowledge of account-keeping procedures, there is some independent responsibility for accurate performance of assigned tasks.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Sorts and classifies requisitions and vouchers; codes vouchers.</p> </li><li> <p>Posts to ledger accounts from expense and appropriation records.</p> </li><li> <p>Reconciles vendors' monthly statements and bank statements.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares payrolls.</p> </li><li> <p>Writes receipts for incoming cash.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates simple office machines.</p> </li><li> <p>Types financial forms and reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares purchase orders.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains running balance of unencumbered and cash funds.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains perpetual inventory of equipment and supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares checks, as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Takes trial balances and makes other financial reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs a variety of related clerical account-keeping duties and other clerical tasks such as filing.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates a data entry terminal, as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains employee time and attendance records, as required.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>TYPICAL ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS </li></ul> <p>FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Knowledge of financial accounting and record-keeping practices, office terminology, procedures, and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to write legibly.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work swiftly and accurately with simple arithmetic problems.</p> </li></ol> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Training and Experience</p> <ol> <li>Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by a course in bookkeeping or accounting; </li></ol> <p>OR</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Graduation from high school </li></ol> <p>and</p> <p>One year of office clerical experience which involved working with financial accounts and records.</p> <p>NOTE: Experience, as outlined above, in excess of the one-year requirement, may be substituted for high school education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>As per labor contract.</p> <p>Non-discrimination Statement</p> <p>The Nassau BOCES advises students, parents, employees and the general public that it offers employment and educational opportunities without regard to age, color, creed, disability, familial status, gender, gender expression, gender identity, marital status, military/veteran status, national origin, predisposing genetic characteristics, race, religion (including religious practice and/or expression), sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical condition), sexual orientation or victim of domestic violence status.
