Posting Number 2016175T Department Summary</p> <p>The Senior Research Engineer will be expected to be able to perform educational training on the Ohio University NAVAID Performance Prediction Model and Ohio University Glideslope Model; extreme proficiency (5-10 years experience) with these tools is required. This also requires an ability and willingness to travel internationally, as well as experience teaching professionals of various technical ability how to use software and presenting for several hours at a time over multiple days. Theoretical and practical understanding of the operation of navigational aids such as Instrument Landing Systems (Localizer and Glideslope), VOR, and DME are required, as well as rudimentary knowledge of GIS data. Additional modelling tasks may be assigned as they become available/requested from sponsors, or creation of additional training materials, so familiarity with the national airspace, and knowledge of historical interactions between navigational aids and obstacles such as wind turbines is preferred.</p> <p>Position Profile</p> <p>Conducts or assists with engineering lab work and research.</p> <p>Level Summary</p> <p>Leads significant programs or functions with a high level of strategic importance. May have a limited number of direct reports.</p> <p>Fiscal Responsibilities</p> <p>May manage budget in work area or multiple project budgets.</p> <p>Problem Solving</p> <p>Resolves highly complex problems, often with no clear precedent.</p> <p>Independence of Action</p> <p>Self-directed with minimal supervision and high decision-making autonomy.</p> <p>Communication and Collaboration</p> <p>Leads major collaborations and represents the University at higher levels.</p> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers.
