<p>Title: Associate Instructor of Welding Technology</p> <p>Employee Classification: Faculty</p> <p>Institution: TCAT-Knoxville</p> <p>Department: Welding Technology</p> <p>Campus Location: TCAT Knoxville</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for the full-time Welding Technology Associate Instructor position. This position will provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom and laboratories. The work schedule will be 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <ul> <li>Ability to effectively apply a multi-method approach to enhance student understanding of materials, including demonstrations, lectures, hands-on activities, and experience at job sites to provide the student with the knowledge to gain employment in the automotive industry. - (Essential) </li><li>Ability to teach welding courses in shielded metal arc (STICK), gas metal arc (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG) and flux cored arc welding; symbols and blueprint reading; cutting techniques; grinding; metal preparation; metallurgy; layout; fabrication; power tools; and measurement techniques. - (Essential) </li><li>Ability to understand which teaching methods best serve the student's needs, interests, and ability to learn. - (Essential) </li><li>Ability to develop accurate and objective standards to measure learning and/or administer testing or other evaluations to determine effectiveness and ensure a high level of comprehension has been achieved. - (Essential) </li><li>Monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college's student records Banner system; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and maintain relationship with high schools to increase dual enrollments. - (Essential) </li><li>Build and maintain relationships with area employers to facilitate the referral and employment of career and technical students. - (Essential) </li><li>Cooperate with outside agencies; work with program advisory committees; conduct visits to business and industry; establish and maintain good public relations with the school's general public. - (Essential) </li><li>Work in cooperation with other departments and the community to enhance employment opportunities for students and also maintain report of job placement for graduates. - (Essential) </li><li>Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, and the general public. - (Essential) </li><li>Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). - (Essential) </li><li>Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision. - (Essential) </li><li>Participate in professional development and growth annually. - (Essential) </li><li>Physically able to lift, stoop, stand, demonstrate and perform all job duties required. - (Essential) </li><li>Some travel is required. - (Essential) </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or High School Equivalency </li><li>Post-secondary diploma or A.A.S. in Welding Technology or related field </li><li>Minimum of three (3) years of employment experience in the occupation </li><li>Must be able to provide both theory and practical instruction </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>AWS, CWE, CWI and NCCER certifications </li><li>Teaching experience </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and other common software programs </li><li>Strong abilities in multi-tasking, customer service, interpersonal skills, and organization </li><li>Must possess communication skills necessary to effectively interact with students, public and employees at all levels both written and verbally </li><li>Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality </li><li>Ability to meet deadlines </li></ul> <p>SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regent guidelines within the range of $50,142 - $60,171.</p> <p>APPLICATION SUBMISSION & REVIEW: To be considered for a position at TCAT Knoxville, you must create and submit an online application that includes your required documents.
