<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Public Schools of Brookline seeks an enthusiastic and compassionate Fourth Grade Teacher who is dedicated to creating a nurturing classroom atmosphere. This is a long-term substitute position to cover a maternity leave for the remainder of the school year. The successful candidate will be adept at building strong relationships with students and fostering a love for learning while delivering a high-quality educational experience through engaging and interactive lessons that encourage student growth and curiosity.</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation, curiosity, and teamwork among students. </li><li>Developing and implementing engaging lessons utilizing research-based instructional strategies, differentiated instruction, and assistive technologies to meet the diverse learning needs of students. </li><li>Supporting the development of executive functioning skills and social-emotional learning. </li><li>Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of students and provide appropriate scaffolding and support as needed. </li><li>Collaborating with special education teachers, support staff, and related service providers to co-plan and co-teach lessons, differentiate instruction, and implement accommodations and modifications as required by student IEPs or 504 plans to support student access and success in the general education curriculum. </li><li>Monitoring student progress, collecting data, and using formative and summative assessments to measure student growth, adjust instruction, and make data-driven decisions to support student learning and achievement. </li><li>Utilizing a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and resources to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. </li><li>Implementing effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. </li><li>Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, communicating regularly to provide updates on student progress, share strategies for supporting student success, and collaborate on interventions and supports. </li><li>Actively participating in professional development opportunities, department meetings, and school-wide initiatives to continuously improve teaching practices and contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. </li><li>Performing other duties as directed by school leadership. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge about elementary learning and the developmental needs of elementary-aged students </li><li>Strong foundation in student-centered pedagogy </li><li>Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods </li><li>Strong classroom management skills </li><li>Commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment. </li><li>Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families </li><li>Reflective practitioner with a growth mindset and a willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of students and the school community </li><li>Massachusetts DESE teacher certification: Elementary Teacher (grades 1-6) </li><li>Bachelor's degree </li><li>SEI endorsement </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree </li><li>Previous experience teaching elementary school students </li><li>Experience with social-emotional learning practices and curricula </li></ul> <p>Reports To:</p> <p>The long-term substitute Grade 4 Teacher will report to the school building principal.</p> <p>The Public Schools of Brookline is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their teaching or practice to the diversity and excellence of the PSB community.</p> <p>The Public Schools of Brookline is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
