<p>JOB INFORMATION</p> <p>This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the year and reviewed based on department need. Should a review of your application result in the intent to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted by phone for an interview.</p> <p>We are seeking a flexible, part-time Healthcare Interpreter Instructor to join our adjunct faculty pool. This grant-funded position (with potential for extension) involves instructing students in the classroom, primarily during evening and weekend hours. Adjunct faculty assignments are based on department needs throughout the academic year, and application are reviewed on a rolling basis. If you are unsure whether you meet all of the qualifications listed below, we encourage you to apply and address through your application materials all of the relevant education, transferable skills, and related experience that makes you a great candidate for this position.Please ensure you include all information on your application which you wish to be considered.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Certification or qualification as a healthcare interpreter</p> <ul> <li>AND- </li></ul> <p>Teaching experience</p> <ul> <li>AND- </li></ul> <p>Practice as an interpreter within the last 10 years</p> <p>Examples of acceptable certification or qualifications include:</p> <ul> <li>Oregon health care interpreter certification </li><li>Oregon health care interpreter qualification (if national medical certification is not available in one's language) </li><li>State or federal court interpreter certification including spoken or signed language </li><li>Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) </li><li>Certification from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) </li><li>Certification from the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) </li><li>Washington state interpreter certification or authorization </li></ul> <p>Teaching experience includes at least one of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent </li><li>Proven study in adult education techniques </li><li>One year of teaching experience </li><li>Completion of at least a one-week Trainer of Trainers (TOT) course </li></ul> <p>Note: A Master's degree in interpreting will be accepted in lieu ofthe certifications and qualifications listed above.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Interpreting </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends </li><li>This position belongs to the non-bargaining unit and begins at Step 2. Please refer to current salary schedules here for more information. </li><li>All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college. </li><li>Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire </li><li>Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment. </li><li>Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program </li><li>Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks. An individual with negative information on their background inquiry will not necessarily be denied employment. </li><li>Providing false information will result in rejection of an application, employment offer or dismissal </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Sedentary Work:Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
