Unlock your potential!</p> <p>Job Summary and Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Position Summary: </li></ul> <p>Provide administrative and clinical leadership to radiation oncology departments in accordance with the highest standards of practice and as required by regulatory and accrediting agencies. Evaluation and coordination of medical physics strategic priorities across the Health System including but not limited to: program accreditation, standardization, and quality assurance. This includes hiring, training, educating, evaluating, and staffing-in, among other duties. The Chief Medical Physicist will work with the Leadership of Oncology on special projects as assigned. They must have the ability to utilize components of the treatment-planning computer including but not limited to the use of keyboards, digitizers, trackball and mouse controls. Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish structures and isodose displays on computer monitor. Additionally, must be able to align treatment field and monitor patient during radiation therapy treatment; have adequate hearing and speaking capabilities to effectively communicate with patients and staff; have adeqate mobility to assist patients on and off treatment couch and document treatment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Duties (included but not limited to):</p> </li><li> <p>Provides radiation oncology physics services and coverage at all sites as needed, including HDR and LDR brachytherapy prodedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Manages the radiation oncology physics program, including the technical direction of physicists and medical dosimetrists.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees registration of all ionizing radiation equipment and radioactive material licenses for hospitals in Health System.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures adherence to all regulatory requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures proper maintenance of radiation treatment equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Work in conjunction with Sarah Cannon to implement physics and radiation quality management programs and the review and approval of procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides recommendations for the specification, selection, and acceptance of radiation-producing machines, accessories and computerized treatment-planning system.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates all operational activities of medical physics and dosimetry within HCA Midwest Health System.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides high quality, cost-effective physics and treatment planning care to patients and physicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Works with Vice President Cancer Services and hospital leadership on radiation oncology budgeting and planning activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures we maintain adequate physics and dosimetry coverage to support hospital operations.
