<p>About the Role:</p> <p>The Medical Assistant in Otolaryngology plays a critical role in supporting the clinical operations of an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialty practice. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care, assisting physicians during examinations and procedures, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow throughout the clinic. The Medical Assistant will perform clinical tasks such as taking patient histories, preparing patients for exams, and conducting basic diagnostic tests specific to otolaryngology. Additionally, this role involves administrative duties including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating communication between patients and healthcare providers. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients with ENT-related conditions while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. </li><li>Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred. </li><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. </li><li>Minimum of one year experience in a clinical setting, preferably in otolaryngology or a related specialty. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working specifically in an otolaryngology or ENT practice. </li><li>Knowledge of audiology testing and equipment. </li><li>Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in specialty clinics. </li><li>Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or EKG Technician. </li><li>Strong understanding of medical terminology related to otolaryngology. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Greet and prepare patients for otolaryngology examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process. </li><li>Obtain and document patient medical histories, vital signs, and chief complaints relevant to ENT conditions. </li><li>Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including audiometric testing, endoscopy, and minor office surgeries. </li><li>Perform routine clinical tasks such as specimen collection, wound care, and administering medications or injections as directed. </li><li>Manage patient scheduling, maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, and facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers. </li><li>Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment. </li><li>Educate patients on post-procedure care, medication instructions, and follow-up appointments. </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <p>The Medical Assistant utilizes clinical skills daily to perform patient assessments, assist with specialized ENT procedures, and ensure accurate documentation of patient information. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with patients, explaining procedures, and coordinating care with physicians and other healthcare team members. Organizational skills are critical for managing appointment schedules, maintaining medical records, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Technical proficiency with medical instruments and electronic health record systems supports efficient and accurate clinical operations. Additionally, problem-solving and adaptability are important for responding to the dynamic needs of patients and the clinical environment.</p>
