Experience with cell biology, drosophila or mouse experiments, histology, microscopy, or cell cultures or iPSC-cell culture swill be advantageous.</p> <p>Minimum Education and Training Requirements:</p> <p>PHD or equivalent with at least 7 years postdoctoral experience in molecular biology, protein chemistry, immunohistochemistry and/or cell biology as well as a documented history of scientific productivity in the forms of publications and meeting presentations.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <p>30% - Characterize the protective effects of a research compound on FUS pathology in the drosophila eye</p> <p>30% - Perform experiments in the SOD2 knockout mouse to characterize mitochondrial structure and function in response to a research compound.</p> <p>15% - Maintain detailed account of experimental procedures and results, take leadership roles in study design, identification of new protocols or modification of existing protocols, and give advice to PI.</p> <p>10% Perform experiments on cultured cells and analyze biochemical reactions. Perform biochemical and immunological assays on fresh tissues and cultured cells. These assays include PCR, western blot, ELISA, resistance measurements, immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence.</p> <p>10% - Contribute to other research projects in the lab, share expertise with fellow lab members proper equipment use and lab protocols.</p> <p>5% - Present results through peer-reviewed publications, presentations at local, national and international meetings, help in the preparation of grant applications with PI</p> <p>Additional Job Description</p> <p>Physical Requirements: (Note: The following descriptions are applicable to this section: Continuous - 6-8 hours per shift; Frequent - 2-6 hours per shift; Infrequent - 0-2 hours per shift) Ability to perform job functions in an upright position. (Frequent) Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 72 inches to floor level, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift and carry objects up to 15 lbs. a distance of five (5) floors and to outlying buildings. (Frequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities.
