<p>Retail Development Program Overview</p> <p>Belk offers talented and ambitious recent graduates the opportunity to work in multiple areas of our business. The Retail Development Program (RDP) is a fast-paced three-month program designed to prepare recent college graduates for a full-time role at Belk. We offer opportunities in several of our business functions including Merchandising, Planning, Accounting, Finance and more! The program focuses on key components to support your development: Education, Experience, Exposure, Innovation and Results.</p> <p>Accounting - Position Summary</p> <p>The Retail Development Program - Accounting prepares you for a career in Accounting at Belk by providing structured training in multiple functional areas including General Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Financial Operations & Accounts Payable while interacting with leaders and other business areas across the company.</p> <p>Associates will participate in professional development classes with the broader Retail Development Program cohort, complete on-the-job projects, and program projects. Participants are also matched with mentors to help acclimate to Belk, develop on the job, and identify future career possibilities.</p> <p>The Retail Development Program - Accounting will hire candidates in our Charlotte, NC headquarters. Participants benefit from an engaged leadership team and a large network of peers across Belk in the Retail Development Program.</p> <p>On the Job Experiences Include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work in a fast paced, dynamic, test and learn environment</p> </li><li> <p>Interact with all levels of management to communicate or present topics vital to the business</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare weekly/monthly reporting and forecasts</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the development of monthly general ledger account reconciliations</p> </li><li> <p>Develop reporting and analysis to identify issues and opportunities</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate on-going partnerships with assigned Expense Champions to ensure understanding of activities and add value to the analytical process</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare journal entries and monthly accruals as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Review current processes and identify opportunities for process improvement</p> </li></ul> <p>Position Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree required; strong academic performance in Accounting (preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Must have completed degree between December 2024 - June 2025 and able to start full time September 2025</p> </li><li> <p>Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by Belk for this position now or in the future</p> </li><li> <p>GPA minimum 3.2</p> </li><li> <p>Prior internship in accounting/finance (preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with Advanced Microsoft Excel (Formulas, Functions and features such as Visualization tools, VLOOKUP, Macros), Word, PowerPoint & Outlook</p> </li><li> <p>Open to learning, able to adapt to changing circumstances and reprioritize tasks as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Open to learning, able to adapt to changing circumstances and reprioritize tasks as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Strong academic performance, ability to communicate effectively & strong analytical skills</p> </li><li> <p>Committed to meeting goals and deadlines within a dynamic, fast-paced and results-oriented environment</p> </li></ul>
