<p>As a part of the Ingram Center for Student-Athlete Success, the Student Services Coordinator is a member of the Student Services team and will report directly to the Director of Student Services. The primary focus of the Student Services Coordinator role is to monitor the academic progress of student-athletes for assigned sports. In addition, the Student Services Coordinator will be expected to provide student-athletes with academic counseling and support services, refer student-athletes to campus resources, and monitor study halls/tutorial services.</p> <p>About the Work Unit:</p> <p>Vanderbilt University's Athletics Department prepares student-athletes to become leaders and champions in life by placing the highest values on integrity, character, sportsmanship, and victory. Vanderbilt is a charter member of the Southeastern Conference and is the conference's only private school. The university fields 17 varsity teams (6 men's teams and 11 women's teams, a total of 375 student athletes), 15 of which compete in the Southeastern Conference.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Responsible for monitoring the academic progress of assigned sports and providing academic counseling and support services as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Meet regularly with assigned caseload, including weekly meetings with first-year student-athletes as well as those in danger of not meeting good academic standing</p> </li><li> <p>Report academic progress to coaches and sport administrators</p> </li><li> <p>Check classes for attendance</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in tracking student-athletes' compliance with NCAA academic eligibility requirements and progress towards Vanderbilt University degree requirements</p> </li><li> <p>Help student-athletes learn time management skills to assist in balancing the demands of academics and athletics</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a sounding board for student-athletes to help them deal with issues surrounding the transition from home life to college</p> </li><li> <p>Meet with prospective student-athletes and their families as requested</p> </li><li> <p>Alert professors and/or deans to absences due to university-sanctioned travel to athletic events, medical procedures or illnesses, deaths in the family, or other extenuating circumstances that may constitute a missed class</p> </li><li> <p>Meet with professors, advisors, and/or deans as requested</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a resource to professors if problems arise regarding a student-athlete in which they would like our assistance</p> </li><li> <p>Refer student-athletes to appropriate campus resources as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Collect and report academic data as needed (e.g., SEC for Academic Honor Roll, Vice Chancellor/Athletics Director, Provost's Office, Board of Trust, etc.)</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor evening study halls as assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Seek intentional professional development opportunities for continued growth</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a role model for student-athletes in terms of upholding integrity, cooperation, self-reflection and stressing the importance and benefits of education</p> </li><li> <p>Work in a cooperative, team atmosphere to support student-athletes' needs</p> </li><li> <p>Comply with all NCAA and SEC rules and regulations</p> </li><li> <p>Work in conjunction with the department's compliance office to stay current on all rules and regulations to ensure we are operating with the highest level of integrity</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services, Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services, or the Director of the Ingram Center for Student-Athlete Success</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Relationships:</p> <p>This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility and reports administratively and functionally to the Director of Student Services.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Master's Degree is preferred. </li><li>A Bachelor's Degree is required. </li><li>1-2 years of experience within academics at an NCAA Division I athletics program is preferred. </li><li>Organized, detail oriented and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision is required. </li><li>High emotional intelligence and ability to communicate effectively are required. </li><li>Knowledge of NCAA Division I and SEC rules and regulations is required. </li></ul>
