The English Department at CU Denver oversees the university's core composition program, which consists of a sequence of two classes-English 1020 and 2030. The Department also offers undergraduate majors in Literature; Film; Creative Writing; and Writing, Rhetoric, and Technology; as well as an MA degree in English Studies.</p> <p>Lecturer</p> <p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li>Teach 1-2 sections of Core Composition </li><li>Prepare for classes, provide regular feedback on assignments, and meet with students outside the classroom </li></ul> <p>Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in English or related field. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>Training in composition pedagogy and experience in the classroom teaching composition. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution </li><li>Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to teach a diverse student body </li><li>Ability to develop a clear syllabus outlining rules and assignments for the class </li><li>Commitment to applying rules in a consistent manner </li><li>Ability to present writing instruction in the classroom in an engaging way </li><li>Ability to work effectively with students on a 1-to-1 basis </li><li>Ability to provide clear feedback on student written work </li><li>Flexibility and empathy in adapting to student circumstances </li><li>Ability to engage with undergraduate students who are just beginning their college careers </li><li>A successful applicant will have training in composition studies and experience in the composition classroom. </li></ul> <p>Conditions of Employment</p> <ul> <li>This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences.
