<p>The Electric Lineworker, Arborist, and Traffic Technician Apprentice Internship is an entry-level,</p> <p>hands-on learning opportunity. Apprentices will rotate through experiences assisting with electric</p> <p>line construction, urban forestry maintenance, and traffic systems installation and repair. Work</p> <p>involves learning industry best practices, preparing materials and equipment, operating</p> <p>machinery, and supporting crews in the field. This position is designed to prepare the Apprentice</p> <p>for a future career in utility, arborist, or traffic systems operations.</p> <p>Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Line Supervisor, Arborist Supervisor, or</p> <p>Traffic Supervisor, depending on assignment. Work may be performed in adverse weather</p> <p>conditions and is reviewed for understanding, accuracy, completeness, and adherence to</p> <p>policies and procedures.</p> <p>Electric Linework:</p> <p>Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground and overhead</p> <p>electrical lines.</p> <p>Install transformers, street lights, reclosers, fuses, and related electrical equipment.</p> <p>Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, backhoes, forklifts, and hand/power tools.</p> <p>Climb poles and elevated structures safely.</p> <p>Arborist Operations:</p> <p>Assist with tree trimming, removal, and planting activities to maintain safe clearance</p> <p>around electrical lines and public areas.</p> <p>Operate chippers, chainsaws, pruning tools, and other forestry equipment.</p> <p>Learn tree species identification, health assessment, and proper pruning techniques.</p> <p>Maintain tools and equipment in safe, operational condition.</p> <p>Traffic Technician Work:</p> <p>Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals and signs.</p> <p>Set up traffic control devices and assist in safe work zone practices.</p> <p>Operate basic tools and equipment such as drills, wire strippers/crimpers, etc.</p> <p>Learn basic traffic signal wiring and troubleshooting under supervision.</p> <p>General Duties:</p> <p>Prepare and stock trucks with necessary tools, parts, and supplies.</p> <p>Complete routine maintenance and cleaning of trucks, trailers, and equipment.</p> <p>Accurately complete required reports for material usage and maintenance records.</p> <p>Perform groundwork and site cleanup to maintain a safe and organized work</p> <p>environment.</p> <p>Perform other related duties as assigned.Enrollment in high school or equivalent combination of training and experience.</p> <p>General knowledge of occupational hazards and workplace safety practices.</p> <p> Basic knowledge of the safe and correct use of tools and equipment related to electric,</p> <p>forestry, and traffic operations.</p> <p>Willingness to learn to climb poles, trees, and operate various aerial and lifting devices.</p> <p>Ability to work under extreme weather conditions.</p> <p>Physical ability to meet the strenuous demands of climbing, lifting, digging, and other</p> <p>fieldwork.</p> <p>Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.</p> <p>Ability to properly use power tools, hand tools, and operate heavy equipment.</p> <p>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers,</p> <p>supervisors, and the public.</p> <p>Interest or basic knowledge in electrical theory, arboriculture, and/or traffic systems a</p> <p>plus.</p> <p>NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: </p> <p>Possession of a valid driver's license.</p>
