<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Office/Secretary</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/28/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Administration Building, Central Office</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>Fall 2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Grosse Pointe Public Schools  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Respond to and resolve questions and requests regarding job openings, contract language, district policies, leaves of absence, employment verifications and other Human Resources related issues via email, phone, walk-in visits or mail from district staff, applicants, students and community members.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide direct administrative support to HR Assistant Superintendent including email correspondence, scheduling meetings, generating memos, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the new hire process by scheduling interviews, contacting candidates, and preparing and sending correspondence.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintaining personnel files, I-9 files and other Human Resources compliance documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Process new employee hires including completion of background checks, fingerprint clearance, new hire paperwork, credentials, initial data entry into payroll and HRIS system, employee ID badges, set up of personnel file and new hire orientation.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares FMLA and short-term disability insurance correspondence for all staff, tracks leave days and maintains medical files and all necessary documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares payroll.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and maintains seniority lists for all support staff groups.</p> </li><li> <p>Preparation of annual work calendars and assists with completion of payroll reports to load contract salaries prior to each school year.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares reports for Human Resources, Business Operations or administrators as requested.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors AESOP for staff absences, and serves as the Absence Manager/Substitute Coordinator.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors and tracks required employee compliance (Ex. Bloodborne Pathogen Training).</p> </li><li> <p>Supports Summer School Coordinators and Summer Programs, processing applications and payroll as requested.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides support as needed to all Human Resources Staff</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Associate's degree or higher.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Applications.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent organizational skills and a focus on detail-orientation.</p> </li><li> <p>Outstanding customer service skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate positively and effectively with co-workers, district employees, and governmental representatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience dealing with confidential information.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated history of flexibility, respect, and cooperation in the workplace and ability to work as a productive member of a team.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and in an independent manner.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in human resource administration or a related degree program.</p> </li><li> <p>Human resource experience, including new employee onboarding, FMLA, and employment law.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with collective bargaining.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous school experience preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>The district reserves the right to accept any combination of the above required or preferred qualifications in the final hiring decision.</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Classification F, $18.94 - $25.17/Hour, 12 Month position</p> <p>Monday - Thursday 7:00a - 3:30p, Friday 7:00a - 3:00p</p> <p>Application Procedure:</p> <ul> <li> <p>External applicants (not currently employed by GPPSS):</p> </li><li> <p>Click on the "Apply" button to initiate the application process.</p> </li><li> <p>Internal applicants, currently employed by GPPSS:</p> </li><li> <p>E-mail your letter of intent and an updated resume to: Moussa Hamka, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources - hamkam@gpschools.org Be sure to include the Job ID in the subject line.</p> </li></ul> <p>Selection Procedure:</p> <ul> <li>The successful candidate must meet the State standard for a clear criminal history and provide mandated fingerprint clearance. </li></ul>
