<p>Position Summary Department: OHMG Urology Status: Full Time Title: Supervisor - Advanced Practice Provider, APP, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, ARNP, NP, PA, PAC Orlando Health Medical Group is a comprehensive physician group serving patients from across the southeastern United States. Orlando Position Summary: The Supervisor, Advanced Practice Professionals diagnoses and treats acute, episodic, or chronic illness, and may focus on health promotion and disease prevention. The incumbent will also supervise various human resources functions relating to assigned Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs). Responsibilities Essential Functions: • Serves as an advanced resource for specialty area, or as lead worker in clinic setting. • Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. • Operates with the highest degree of independence in provision of patient care services with minimal physician supervision and generally in a highly specialized area. • Uses advanced skills and in-depth clinical knowledge in a highly independent manner to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to clients across the continuum. • Assists in teaching students, residents, and interns complex techniques and procedures that are unique to specialized clinical setting. • Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies. • Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and admission and discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols. • Writes and/or dictates progress notes on patient charts indicating patient status and treatment or procedures performed in an accurate and timely manner. • Performs emergency lifesaving procedures in cases such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, massive hemorrhage, or similar catastrophe. • May perform preliminary daily rounds independently, then with attending physicians; conducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds. • May prescribe medication, and may order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays. May prescribe narcotics for inpatient; must have credentials to do so for outpatient. • Triages patients. • Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment; works collaboratively to formulate treatment plans. • Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of patients. • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. • Demonstrates caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families. • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and patient rights. • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care. • Maintains provision of preventive health services. • Supervises various human resources functions, including developing coaching plans and working with Manager, APP on performance counseling, recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of APPs. • Ensures compliance with certifications, licenses, and required education for assigned APPs. • Monitors/supervises appropriate staffing of APPs to ensure patient care needs are met and budgetary boundaries are observed. • Serves as a mentor for professional practice. • Leads and participates in departmental and hospital programs, committees, and special projects to achieve desired outcomes. • Shares clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel, and collaborates with other healthcare disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care. • Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. • Participates in review and revision of policies and procedures. • Demonstrates compliance with standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. • Establishes relationships with professionals of other health-related groups within the community. • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations, including physicians, team members, patients, and families. • Participates in basic science and clinical research projects. Qualifications Education/Training MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing, OR graduate of accredited physician assistant program. Licensure/Certification • ARNP license in the state of Florida (After July 1, 2006, licensure applicants are required to have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board), OR Current physician assistant licensure in State of Florida (to be renewed every two years). • Maintains BSL certification. Experience Three (3) years specific nurse practitioner OR physician assistant experience in the assigned specialty area.</p> <p>Education/Training MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing, OR graduate of accredited physician assistant program.
