We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.</p> <p>The staff nurse, under the supervision of the Medical Director and Nurse Manager, functions as an ambulatory care practice nurse for the Vasculitis and Glomerulonephritis Center. The Staff Nurse is a registered nurse who is responsible for ensuring patient-centered nursing care in the ambulatory care setting. They will collaborate with physicians, staff nurses, research nurse and medical assistants to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.</p> <p>Principal duties and responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Insert peripheral I.V. catheters and access Port-a-Cath on scheduled infusion days.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate, verify, and prepare IV medications; monitor patients' vital signs continuously during infusions.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to Patient Gateway messages and patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Process medication refill requests accurately and efficiently.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess patient health status and perform timely telephone triage in consultation with physicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with prior authorizations by coordinating with specialty pharmacies and insurance payors for patient medications.</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule and manage patient appointments efficiently.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete various medical and administrative documents, including FMLA forms, VNA paperwork, and patient correspondence.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform venipuncture for blood draws and ensure proper sample handling.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare team members to ensure high-quality patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform additional duties as assigned by manager or per departmental needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and workflows.</p> </li><li> <p>Support clinical research studies and related tasks, as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain professional competencies and participate in ongoing staff development and training.</p> </li></ol> <p>Skills:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility to manage multiple tasks, and attention to detail</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of computer applications necessary to function in an ambulatory setting (EPIC EMR)</p> </li><li> <p>Phlebotomy, IV, port access experience preferred but will train</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of medical terminology.</p> </li></ol> <p>We offer an outstanding benefits packages to eligible employees including…</p> <ul> <li>Medical, Dental and Vision insurance </li><li>Tuition Reimbursement </li><li>Generous paid time off </li><li>Subsidized MBTA pass (50% discount) </li><li>Resources for childcare and emergency backup care </li><li>Hospital paid retirement plan and tax-sheltered annuity plan </li><li>Employee "Perks" - enjoy discounts on tickets and passes for everything from ski resorts to museums to sporting events. </li></ul> <p>You contribute to our success.</p> <p>Every role has an impact on our patients' lives, and you can make a difference.
