We are committed to providing a learning environment that embraces diversity, promotes equity, and fosters inclusion.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Elementary School Counselor will support students' academic, social, and emotional development. The School Counselor will foster student growth through a developmental counseling curriculum, individualized support, and collaborative school initiatives to ensure student success and preparation for the future.</p> <p>Reports To: School Principal</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Developmental Counseling Curriculum:</p> <ul> <li>Implement the district's developmental school counseling curriculum and maintain data on student performance and program effectiveness. </li><li>Facilitate students' academic, personal/social, and career development. </li><li>Provide instruction in social, emotional, and behavioral learning, supporting classroom teachers as needed. </li></ul> <p>Individual Student Planning:</p> <ul> <li>Chair and manage the Section 504 process in accordance with district expectations. </li><li>Assist students in developing and updating Student Success Plans to support academic, social, and career goals. </li></ul> <p>Responsive Services:</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual and small group counseling to address student needs. </li><li>Maintain high availability to students and proactively support their well-being. </li><li>Build positive relationships with students and families, providing outreach and engagement. </li><li>Respond to crises and participate in the school crisis team. </li><li>Assess student needs and analyze data to inform interventions and programming. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in the school's SRBI implementation to promote student success. </li><li>Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and community resources to support students. </li><li>Contribute expertise to school teams, including Crisis Team, PBIS Team, Data Team, and Student Assistance Team. </li></ul> <p>Professional Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain confidentiality of students and families. </li><li>Support smooth student transitions across grades and schools. </li><li>Advocate for programs and experiences that enhance student achievement and career opportunities. </li><li>Engage in professional development and uphold the ethical standards of the American School Counselors Association. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Connecticut State Certification as a School Counselor (068) required. </li><li>Master's Degree in School Counseling from an accredited college or university. </li><li>Experience in school counseling preferred; relevant experience considered. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment & Physical/Mental Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Work primarily in school and office settings. </li><li>Prolonged periods of sitting and clear verbal communication are required. </li></ul> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Salary & Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Salary will be commensurate with experience and in accordance with the Salisbury Central Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for certified staff. </li><li>Comprehensive benefits package included. </li></ul> <p>Application/Interview Process:</p> <ul> <li>Apply online; click JobID: 1671 </li><li>Applicants will be screened on an ongoing basis; early applications are encouraged. </li><li>Interviews with a possible call back. </li></ul> <p>For more information, please contact Stephanie Magyar, Principal, at smagyar@salisburycentral.org.</p>
