<p>The John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking qualified applicants for a Teaching Faculty (Open Rank) position in the area of Supply Chain Management (SCM) beginning August 2026. The appointment will be in the Department of Management Information Systems and Supply Chain (MISSC).</p> <p>West Virginia University is the comprehensive Land Grant University of the State of West Virginia with a Carnegie Classification of Highest Research Activity (i.e., R1 University). Chambers College is AACSB-accredited and is the second-largest college at WVU, with over 3500 students and 200 faculty. The college houses 11 undergraduate majors, 13 minors, ten master's, and multiple doctoral programs. The MISSC Department hosts three undergraduate programs, two undergraduate minors, two master's degree programs, multiple graduate certificates, and multiple outreach centers. The SCM Program started in 2014 with an area of emphasis. The B.S.B.A. in SCM major was launched in 2016, and the newest offering is a B.S. in Supply Chain Management Science, which was launched in 2024. Today, with 150 enrolled students enrolled in either the B.S.B.A in SCM major or the newer B.S. in Supply Chain Management Science (STEM) degree, one of only a handful in the United States, the SCM program is one of the fastest growing programs in the college. We are proud of the award-winning research and excellent teaching reputation of our six full-time SCM faculty (five tenure track) who consistently publish in the highest impact outlets, including those listed on the FT50, UTD, and SCM8 journal lists. Our faculty prides itself on bringing innovative and impactful newly created knowledge into the classroom to enhance students' learning. Besides the rigorous STEM curriculum, our students are exposed to experiential learning opportunities throughout the program, culminating in a capstone project class, where students directly interact with business organizations to tackle various live, real-world, high-impact SCM problems.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <p>Teaching:</p> <ul> <li>Teach core courses in the Supply Chain Management program and courses related to Supply Chain Management across the College based on Departmental needs. </li><li>Develop and deliver engaging, innovative, and effective teaching strategies to enhance student learning and success. </li></ul> <p>Service:</p> <ul> <li>Contribute to department, college, and university service activities that align with the college's mission to support student success and outreach to both practitioner and academic communities. </li></ul> <p>By the time of the appointment, qualified candidates must:</p> <ul> <li>Hold a doctoral degree (or equivalent) in business with an emphasis in supply chain management, business logistics, operations management, management science, or allied disciplines. </li><li>Be able to teach classes in purchasing, logistics, and distribution management, operations management, inventory management, and supply chain strategy. </li><li>Have a record of publishing research in respected peer-reviewed academic outlets and/or high-visibility business practitioner outlets and presenting research at highly regarded, peer-reviewed international conferences. </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Candidates may have more than one year of industrial, government, or military experience with an emphasis on supply chain management competencies such as sourcing management, distribution management, transportation management, technology management, and supply chain risk and resiliency in the context of global supply chains. Senior-level appointments will be commensurate with experience. </li><li>For appointment at the senior level, possess academic, administrative, and leadership experience at the program, college, and/or university level. </li></ul> <p>Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
