Our community commits itself to being inclusive and welcoming as we put the whole person at the center of everything we do.</p> <p>This is a collective Bargaining position.</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>Direct Support Professional staff are members of a team responsible for providing high quality direct care services to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities who attend Incompass Day Services Programs. Staff are responsible for assisting individuals participating in groups and activities prescribed in the participants Day Habilitation Support Plan (DHSP) or Community Based Day Supports Individual Support Plan (ISP).</p> <p>The Enhanced Support Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides 1:1 support to individuals in the Day Services Program who require a higher level of care due to complex medical needs, behavioral challenges, or both. This role requires advanced skills, heightened vigilance, and a strong understanding of individualized care strategies to promote safety, dignity, and quality of life for the participants served. DSPs in this role may rotate among individuals requiring enhanced care to promote continuity of service while reducing staff fatigue and ensuring skill cross-training.</p> <p>This position requires ONE on ONE supervision to our individual clients.</p> <p>Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 2:30pm</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Provide consistent, direct, and individualized support to participants with higher clinical, behavioral, or medical needs. </li><li>Follow detailed protocols and support plans that include individualized behavior plans, medical protocols, and safety strategies. </li><li>Participate in ongoing advanced training (e.g., behavior support, de-escalation, trauma-informed care, medical equipment use). </li><li>Support the implementation of Positive Behavior Supports (PBS), including modeling strategies and serving as a peer coach when trained, to ensure consistency and effectiveness across staff. </li><li>Engage in active supervision and redirection to maintain a safe environment for the individual and others. </li><li>Document all data with high accuracy, noting interventions, behavior tracking, and medical observations per plan. </li><li>Assist with complex ADLs including mobility assistance, feeding protocols, toileting with adaptive supports, and hygiene care. </li><li>Administer or monitor medications and treatments as authorized (MAP certification required). </li><li>Collaborate closely with clinicians, nurses, and behavior specialists to ensure fidelity to plans. </li><li>Participate in pre-shift briefings and debriefings to ensure knowledge of daily needs, risks, and required interventions. </li><li>Serve as an advocate for the participant's preferences, choices, and rights. </li><li>Support skill-building and inclusion activities based on the participant's ISP and DHSP goals. </li><li>Rotate assignments with other Enhanced Support DSPs when required, maintaining familiarity with multiple individuals needing enhanced care. </li><li>Respond appropriately to crisis situations using proactive strategies and approved safety techniques. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p> <p>None</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.</p> <p>Experience/Education</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or GED </li><li>Previous related experience providing child care/elder care/direct support to developmentally disabled persons or previous experience supporting individuals in a mental health/special education or other human services setting is required. </li><li>An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered. </li><li>Experience working with Behavior challenges or has RBT certificate </li></ul> <p>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations</p> <p>Must successfully complete all mandatory training courses as required by the Agency within the required timeframe.</p> <ul> <li>Current First Aid and CPR certification. </li><li>Certification in agency-approved physical intervention/restraint techniques. </li><li>A willingness to complete and maintain advanced certifications (e.g., Safety-Care, trauma-informed training, seizure protocol training). </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust with individuals with complex needs. </li><li>Physical ability to perform transfers, repositioning, and other physical care duties safely. </li></ul> <p>Language Skills</p> <p>Ability to effectively, professionally and respectfully communicate with co-workers, management, Individuals, guardians and stakeholders</p> <p>Must be able to read and write instructions; compose progress notes; read and interpret policy and procedure manuals; understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions; complete data sheets and other documents as needed in a complete and legible fashion.</p> <p>Ability to speak effectively, professionally and respectfully before groups.</p> <p>Mathematical Skills</p> <p>Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.</p> <p>Reasoning Ability</p> <p>Ability to understand and apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.</p> <p>Ability to deal with problems, maintaining composure and professionalism.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands/fingers, talk and hear.</p> <p>The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.</p> <p>Employees working with individuals who require physical interventions for behavior control need to demonstrate competency in physical restraint techniques (PAC restraint certification required).</p> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
