<p>Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. The Department of Education recognized RCC as a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and as one of the top 100 community colleges in the country for student outcomes through the Postsecondary Success Recognition Program, making it the only community college in Massachusetts with these designations.</p> <p>RCC offers 24 associate degree programs, 6 credit-based certificate programs, 13 non-credit professional certification programs, 30+ lifelong learning and fitness classes, and customized incumbent worker training programs. Our annual report is available at Clery Report.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Assistant Director of Behavioral Health at Roxbury Community College (RCC) will play a key role in enhancing the college's support for student mental health and well-being. This position will collaborate with stakeholders across campus to strengthen RCC's resources for students' behavioral health needs, adopting a comprehensive approach within the context of their higher education experience. The Assistant Director will focus on individualized counseling and support, and providing education, training, awareness, outreach, and programming specifically related to mental health and behavioral health topics.</p> <p>The Assistant Director will work closely with other departments across campus to help triage behavioral health referrals, assess student needs, and develop individualized support services and counseling, including connecting students with appropriate off-campus mental health services and support. This includes establishing protocols for referring students to counseling services, crisis intervention resources, and other relevant support systems.</p> <p>The Assistant Director will work closely with community-based organizations and partnering agencies to provide students with specialized education and training on mental health awareness, intervention strategies, and available resources. This role will also be responsible for developing and implementing programs focused on promoting positive mental health, reducing stigma, and fostering a supportive campus environment.</p> <p>Title: Assistant Director of Behavioral Health Services</p> <p>Unit: NUP Non-Unit Professional</p> <p>Department: Project Access</p> <p>Reports To: Dean of Students</p> <p>Date: May 2025</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Provides Mental Health Support Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Wellness to coordinate the development, planning, and implementation of mental health services, policies, educational programs, wellness programs, and crisis prevention/control; identifies the mental health needs of students; ensures that programs are well organized and responsive to the emotional and psychological needs of the college community; ensures compliance of mental health programs and policies with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures; serves as a campus mental health advocate and consultant on mental health-related matters; develops, updates, and integrates effective referral systems; develops proposals to college administration for mental health services; develops policies, procedures, and clinical protocols for behavioral health. </li><li>Provides clinical services Provides individualized counseling and mental health education for students by conducting intake assessments and mental health evaluations; offers individual counseling services; works with the Dean of Students and other team members to manage crises and provide interventions for students in distress; coordinates Medical Reentry Process for students returning from hospitalization or treatment; collaborates with other healthcare providers and off-campus referrals as necessary; maintains comprehensive and confidential records; provides support for students with mental health needs in collaboration with Student Accessibility Services. </li><li>Collaborates with campus safety and Title IX personnel In response to mental health crises or emergencies, evaluates reported incidents, prepares incident reports, and develops and recommends mental health crisis protocols for health and safety purposes. </li><li>Provides education and information relating to mental health services. Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Wellness to develop and implement campus-wide mental health education and awareness programs; promotes mental health through workshops and mental health fairs on mental health issues; coordinates campus speakers, conferences, and outreach programs related to mental health; prepares educational materials on mental health topics, such as stress management, resilience, and coping strategies. </li><li>Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities.
