<p>Job Title: Phlebotomist</p> <p>Pay: $15-$20/HR</p> <p>Location: Tulsa, OK</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Join a dynamic hospital laboratory team to obtain blood specimens and collect nonblood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. The role involves performing screening tests, reporting results, processing specimens for laboratory testing, and preparing specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Obtain blood specimens using venipuncture and other collection techniques. </li><li>Collect nonblood specimens including urine, sputum, and throat swabs. </li><li>Perform and report screening tests accurately. </li><li>Process specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing. </li><li>Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories. </li><li>Participate in morning runs and respond to codes, ABGs, and rapids as needed. </li><li>Handle a variety of specimens with a focus on adult patients, with limited pediatric involvement. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood draw techniques. </li><li>Experience with venipuncture. </li><li>Phlebotomy certification preferred; if not certified, a minimum of 6 months of experience or clinical training with patient practice is required. </li><li>Clinical rotations or hospital experience for newly certified individuals. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to handle a high volume of specimen collection, with an average of 50 sticks during the day shift, 35 in the evening, and 25-30 during the first 4 hours of the night shift. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The position is based in a busy hospital lab setting, offering a long-term opportunity for growth and development within the hospital's corporate structure. The hospital is undergoing a transition to take over its labs, providing phlebotomists with a career advancement path. The role involves working day shifts, overnights. and weekends, with rotating weekends and one consistent weekday off each week.
