<p>Provides constant observation of patients in person who are in need of supervision because of possible danger to self and/or others; change in mental status (confusion) that may place the patient at risk for injury and/or interferes with the effectiveness of medical/surgical equipment.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Provide assistance to licensed staff in the application/removal of restraints </li><li>Performs patient assistance such as ambulation and mobilization activities safely. </li><li>Recognize patient emergency situations and respond in an appropriate manner. </li><li>Provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients via Avasys. </li><li>Will verbally re-direct patients from engaging in risk behaviors </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of operational competency of the Avasys Monitoring System </li></ul> <p>Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Able to follow directions. </li><li>Demonstrates dependability, punctuality and flexibility. </li><li>Successfully completes class on role and responsibilities. </li><li>Command of verbal and written English </li><li>Must visibly demonstrate commitment to customer service by providing timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co-workers and staff. </li></ul> <p>Educational Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High School Graduate or equivalent preferred </li><li>Completion of Hospital Orientation / Observation Aide Orientation and Avasys Orientation. </li></ul> <p>Age Specific Criteria: Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.</p> <p>Ability to Meet Job Performance Expectations: Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.</p> <p>Sturdy Memorial Hospital is an equal employment opportunity employer.
