The University offers both the civic and church communities of the Pacific region its academic and intellectual resources in the pursuit of common aims.</p> <ul> <li>Position Information </li></ul> <p>Title: Assistant/ Associate/Full Professor of Nutrition & Program Director for Nutrition Programs</p> <p>Department: School of Nursing and Health Professions</p> <p>Exempt</p> <p>11 month appointment</p> <ul> <li>Position Summary </li></ul> <p>Chaminade University of Honolulu is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a position of Program Director to oversee an anticipated Future Education Model Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Bachelor of Science in Public Health. This is an onsite position based in Honolulu, HI in the School of Nursing and Health Professions. A primary responsibility of this position will be the oversight of the Masters of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics degree program with integrated practicums. In addition, faculty within the program are expected to participate in teaching, scholarship, and provide service including active participation in program, school and university committees.</p> <p>We are seeking candidates whose teaching, research, and/or service has prepared them to support our commitment to fostering a community supported by a collaborative campus climate.</p> <p>The responsibilities of this position comprise of teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses in the School of Nursing and Health Professions in nutrition and public health. As a faculty member, the faculty is expected to participate actively in curriculum development and assessment, to advise students, serve on university and area committees, perform all duties professionally and ethically, and support the policies and mission of the University. In addition, the faculty is required to contribute and produce scholarship and continue professional development as a faculty member.</p> <ul> <li>Reports to: </li></ul> <p>Direct Report to: the Deans of the School of Nursing and Health Professions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilites</p> </li><li> <p>Teach the required work load credits per semester as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participate in division and university related activities and committees, the accreditation process, curriculum development, and scholarship (teaching, grant writing, research, publishing, and community service).</p> </li><li> <p>Advise students.</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to duties as described in the Faculty Handbook.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop a professional development plan and demonstrate a trajectory that promotes scholarship, community service and life-long learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Remain current in the latest industry practices, standards, equipment, research, and technology.</p> </li><li> <p>Any other Duties as assigned by the Deans of the School of Nursing and Health Professions.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as the Program Director for Nutrition and Dietetics including an anticipated Future Education Model graduate program. Program Director responsibilities include:</p> </li><li> <p>Provision or delegation of responsibilities to assure year-round coverage of director responsibilities in the absence of the director or in cases where the director's full-time appointment does not cover all 12 months. In programs where the program director assigns some responsibilities to other individuals, the director must ensure that all program director responsibilities are accomplished throughout the year.</p> </li><li> <p>Development of policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and to ensure fair, equitable and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students (such as program admission, retention and completion policies).</p> </li><li> <p>Student recruitment, advisement, evaluation and counseling.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintenance of program accreditation including:</p> </li><li> <p>Timely submission of fees, reports and requests for major program changes;</p> </li><li> <p>Maintenance of the program's student records, including student advising plans, supervised experiential learning hours and verification statements;</p> </li><li> <p>Maintenance of complaints about the program received from students or others, including disposition of the complaint;</p> </li><li> <p>On-going review of program's curriculum to meet the accreditation standards;</p> </li><li> <p>Communication and coordination with program faculty, preceptors and others involved with the program and its students;</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitation of processes for continuous program evaluation; and</p> </li><li> <p>Timely submission of required documentation supporting the graduate's eligibility for a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam.</p> </li><li> <p>Disclaimer</p> </li></ul> <p>This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive. Some holiday and weekend work may be required.</p> <ul> <li>Education and Experience </li></ul> <p>Minimum Education and Licensure</p> <ul> <li>Doctoral Degree and a minimum of three years professional experience post credentialing or have earned a master's degree and have a minimum of five years professional experience post credentialing. </li><li>Be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission of Dietetic Registration. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Education</p> <ul> <li>Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in Nutrition or a related field. </li><li>Masters of Public Health degree in addition to Nutrition degrees preferred but not required. </li><li>Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities </li><li>The ability to create and facilitate a meaningful learning environment and demonstrate a willingness to teach a variety of nutrition and public health related course in diverse educational settings. </li><li>Higher education teaching experience in classroom, online, and/or clinical settings. </li><li>Demonstrate the potential for scholarly productivity. </li><li>Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse students. </li><li>Proficient in the use of technology to support both in class and online learning environments. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body at all levels of the university. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas). </li><li>Ability to prioritize work and resources. </li><li>Ability to meet deadlines. </li><li>High integrity and ethical standards. </li><li>Physical Requirements </li></ul> <p>Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand</p> <ul> <li>Other Requirements: </li><li>This is a full time, exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor. </li><li>Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University.
