Hybrid schedule.</p> <p>VP Area President Department 01110 - Tax Services Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $55,000-$58,000 Close Date 05/25/2026 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>Prepare payroll garnishments and maintain organization's payroll accounting records and financial statements. Prepare documents for garnishments and research inquiries from garnishors regarding official orders, compliance, and other claims. Research methods and present proposals to improve garnishment processes. Analyze payroll accounting records and reports and assist in preparation. Maintain knowledge of all applicable garnishment laws and regulations. Basic skill set and proficiency required. Conduct work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment.</p> <p>Learn more about the great benefits of working for University of Utah: benefits.utah.edu</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Prepare payroll deductions and garnishment payments, and other accounting documents. </li><li>Must meet critical payroll reporting and other deadlines with respect to all wage garnishments. </li><li>Perform general ledger reconciliations, review garnishment transactions, and process journal entries and </li></ul> <p>corrections to resolve discrepancies or errors.</p> <ul> <li>Interact with customers and garnishors. </li><li>Develop accounting systems and documents to support the input and handling of financial data and </li></ul> <p>report</p> <ul> <li>Interpret university policies and authority sources and provide instructions and guidance to stakeholders. </li><li>Review garnishment processes and procedures and recommend improvements for best practices and </li></ul> <p>compliance.</p> <ul> <li>Provide excellent customer service and timely support to stakeholders. </li><li>Responsible person on other assigned departmental tasks and projects. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).</p> <p>Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Experience in payroll accounting. </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Type Benefited Staff Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
