Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.</p> <p>Responsibilities for this Position</p> <p>As the Senior Engineering Manager (SEM), you will be responsible for setting the standard and upholding the high degree of competency required within the engineering group to support fleet support and sustainment activities. The successful SEM candidate will provide expert leadership and guidance at all levels of the engineering organization and demonstrate the ability to contribute in a meaningful capacity to engineering tasking while managing the organizational needs of and ensuring performance excellence of a ~150-person engineering department.</p> <p>As the SEM, you will work with the Director of Engineering, Program Managers and Business Development to make critical staffing and organizational decisions to ensure program and customer commitments are met across the program portfolio.</p> <p>Position Objectives:</p> <p>In this position the SEM will be operating in two capacities.</p> <ul> <li>Management of the teams program and functional groups: </li></ul> <p>The management role includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees.</p> <ul> <li>Direct program support. </li></ul> <p>Program, support includes but is not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Establish operational objectives, work plans, and performance measures, and delegate assignments to staff. </li><li>Conduct senior management reviews of business objectives to determine success of engineering operations. </li><li>Proposal leadership, technical strategy and cost estimating. </li><li>Contribute to business growth and development strategies, including proposal leadership, technical strategy, and cost estimating. </li><li>Ensure that engineers are active in developing risk mitigation plans and managing risk profiles. </li><li>Drive new technology and capability initiatives and road-maps, along with enabling cross program collaboration. </li></ul> <p>What Sets You Apart:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated performance in leading large, cross functional teams. </li><li>Will be responsible for multiple functions, locations, products and technical abilities </li><li>Strong presentation and communications skills and the ability to meet challenging customer requirements with win-win solutions. </li><li>Finely tuned brokering skills, regularly achieving consensus among stakeholders. </li><li>Collaborating effectively with others and a desire to build teams that excel. </li><li>Technical and management credibility, demonstrated through past experiences. </li><li>Ability to lead and manage a geographically separated team. </li><li>Drives a culture continuous improvement throughout the department </li><li>Determines and implements the organizational training needs in accordance with the requirements of the programs </li><li>Oversees the selection, development and evaluation of personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function </li><li>Fully capable of managing work, setting objectives and meeting commitments, and is an excellent team player </li><li>Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship </li></ul> <p>Salary Note</p> <p>This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
