<p>JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW</p> <p>Assesses probationers' needs and links them to essential services and resources in the community to improve their ability to be successful on supervision. Maintain in-depth knowledge of community resources and develop a positive rapport with agency contacts. Collaborate with Probation Officers to ensure timely and effective communication to guide probationers to success.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION</p> <p>The following duties indicate the general nature and level of work performed by this position. They are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of this position. Other duties may be required or assigned at any time.</p> <ul> <li>Manage a caseload of referred probationers in need of specific resources such as, but not limited to, housing, vocational training, trade schools, education (high school equivalency testing and/or GED); obtaining identification (e.g. state ID, operator's license, birth certificate); securing transportation (e.g. Medicaid Cab, TARPS Application, Reduced Fare Program for TARTA); and applying for and obtaining temporary and/or long term financial assistance, establishing a payee, Medicaid applications, financial literacy, financial opportunity centers (FOC's), and other forms of legitimate financial aid. </li><li>Research and maintain a database of available resources. </li><li>Communicate regularly with Probation Officers to relay progress, challenges, and resource solutions. </li><li>Document interactions with clients, the Court, and community agencies to ensure an accurate and thorough record of activities. </li><li>Develop partnerships with community agencies to improve outcomes for probationers. </li><li>Establish and maintain a professional relationship with the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, and Veteran's Affairs. </li><li>Acquire proficiency and develop strategies to provide assistance with the challenges associated with low socio-economic status; physical, intellectual, sensory and mental disabilities, and prior military service. </li><li>Keeps current on local amnesty events and resource fairs to share with Probation Officers and their clients. </li><li>Will be required to meet with probationers, community members, and/or others, in the office, off site, by telephone or virtually as needed. </li><li>May appear in Court to testify, as needed. </li><li>May be required to monitor clients or assist with caseload of other Probation Officers if needed. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with core course work in areas related to criminal justice, criminology, corrections, psychology, social work or related field. </li><li>NORIS/LEADS Certification required within probationary period. </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. </li><li>Must possess keen analytical and organizational skills and the ability to function at a high level within a large, complex organization. </li><li>Knowledge of common office practices, procedures, and equipment. </li><li>Proficiency in operating a personal computer and using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook, and Excel. </li><li>Ability to prioritize work, work independently without daily direct supervision, and manage a variety of projects simultaneously in a high-pressure atmosphere under severe time constraints. </li><li>Must have excellent time management skills and be highly organized and detail oriented. </li><li>Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Judges, other elected officials, Court employees, Law Enforcement officers, Lawyers, outside agencies, businesses, and the general public. </li><li>Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information. </li><li>Creativity and ability to conceive and implement innovative approaches to solve problems and meet objectives. Ability to recognize the need for change and respond with flexibility to changing program demands, propose solutions, and ensure that solutions are implemented. </li><li>Ability to effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing in English to diverse audiences, and to produce concise, error-free documents and reports. </li><li>Must be conscious of and sensitive to the diversity within the Court's jurisdiction and be able to interact professionally with this diverse population of people from many different geographic, socioeconomic, religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds on a regular basis. </li><li>Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a representative of elected officials. </li><li>Demonstrated dependability, reliability, and excellent attendance record. </li><li>Patience, objectivity, maturity, effectiveness under stress, initiative, adaptability, leadership, and sound judgment. </li></ul> <p>The qualifications and requirements listed above are guidelines for selection purposes.
