<p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Nurture the potential in our youngest members (6 weeks to about 8 years old) by fostering a safe, fun, and caring environment to learn and grow with the Y. Deliver peace-of-mind to the parents as you build relationships and trust that their children will thrive in our care.</p> <p>Wednesday and Thursday evenings 4:30-6:30 PM</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Engage with children with age-appropriate activities and play. Provide opportunities for children to learn and explore through toys, books and games.</p> </li><li> <p>Welcome and greet parents and children, learn their names, and build relationships.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor room for safe surroundings and establish safe play expectations with all. Redirect or correct inappropriate behaviors and provide age appropriate consequences.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist parents/caregivers with the safe check-in and out procedures. Ensure children are all safely accounted for during their visit to Child Watch. Adhere to all tracking measures put in place for your specific Child Watch.</p> </li><li> <p>Keep kids clean and comfortable, including bottle feeding infants and changing diapers.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide escorts to children from room to classes as approved and pre-arranged.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a clean work environment, safe from hazards to staff and children. Follow opening or closing procedures for the room to prepare for shift.</p> </li><li> <p>Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children which includes:</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend required abuse risk management training.</p> </li><li> <p>Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a professional appearance and be prepared to make all parents, families, and children feel welcome and appreciated.</p> </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND TRAINING</p> <ul> <li>Some experience with parenting, babysitting, childcare or otherwise interacting with and caring for groups of children and infants 6 weeks through 8 years old is preferred. </li><li>Requires a demonstrated ability to positively interact with people of all ages (playing with children at their ability level, playing on the floor, discussing relevant issues with parents). </li><li>Applicants must be at least 16 years of age or turning 16 within 30 days of application. </li><li>CPR certifications are required within the first 60 days of employment. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>The ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, move quickly, and/or lift at least 30 pounds will be necessary to fully engage with the children in our care. </li><li>Ability to administer CPR if required. </li></ul> <p>COMPETENCIES</p> <ul> <li>Building Relationships: Connect people to the Y's cause by developing inclusive relationships and collaboration.
