Come explore whether the SES family is right for you!</p> <p>Job Classification: Exempt position</p> <p>Basic Function: The Staff Accountant position is responsible for preparing and maintaining the financial records to track the Company's assets, liabilities, profit/loss and tax liabilities to enhance the accuracy of the Company's reported financial results and ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles, applicable taxing jurisdictions and other related financial activities. They are a partner in reviewing current internal controls, strategizing for the future control environment, and reporting activities designed to mitigate risk. SES as a company seeks to exceed in customer satisfaction, and this role is integral in executing operational excellence that results in reduced friction for customers both internal and external.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn beyond just the basic functions of the staff accounting role. A willingness to embrace the philosophy of "work smarter, not harder," coupled with the understanding that sometimes you just need to roll up your sleeves and dig in is critical.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Reviews daily cash activity, ensures transactions match expectations and making journal entries as appropriate. </li><li>Supports the transaction-processing operations accounting needs and assists with internal controls in these areas (accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory). </li><li>Plays crucial role in the monthly accounting close by performing the following: </li><li>Performs reconciliations, primarily bank, prepaids and accruals </li><li>Prepares month-end closing journal entries </li><li>Assists in financial statement preparation </li><li>Assists with the preparation of corporate filings, sales tax returns, property tax filings and other compliance-related matters. </li><li>Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures for both book and tax purposes. </li><li>Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related projects as needed. Supports organizational goals. </li><li>Complies with all reasonable management/executive requests. </li></ul> <p>Desired Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Organizational skills </li><li>Attention to detail </li><li>Analytical and problem-solving skills </li><li>Willingness to strategize and implement change that supports both our customers and stakeholders </li><li>Business Acumen </li><li>Customer Focus </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively or autonomously </li><li>Honesty, high personal ethics and integrity </li><li>Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products, especially MS Excel </li><li>Experience with MS Dynamics 365, INFOR a plus </li><li>Travel and weekend work will be required (up to 5%) </li></ul> <p>Required Education, Experience and/or Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in accounting and work experience in a related field </li><li>Two plus years of progressively responsible experience as accountant </li><li>Preference given to candidates having their MBA or MPACC, or that exhibit intentions to acquire their CPA license </li><li>Proven ability in creating accurate, insightful analysis and reports is preferred </li><li>Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies </li><li>Must be committed to providing exceptional service at all times. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>This job operates in a professional office / branch environment, with an opportunity to maintain a hybrid office/remote schedule after a period of time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, and standard software suite(s), such as the ERP system, and the Microsoft Suite of products.</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use of hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
