The dietitian provides enhanced supports to minimize the risk of choking, death from over-eating, and maximize the health and safety of the individuals. This Dietitian 2 is assigned 11 homes and Millbrook Day Program.</p> <p>Duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Monitor the need of high nutritional risk individuals in their assigned area (i.e., tube feedings, those prone to aspiration pneumonia, multiple ground/puree consistency diets, as well as individuals with caloric, electrolyte, nutrient, and other metabolic needs such as diabetes, hypertension, low body weight, etc.) </li><li>Provide for each individual on their caseload, including nutritional diagnosis and medical nutrition therapy to people with chewing and swallowing disorders, diabetes, obesity, GI malfunctions, cardiovascular diseases, low body weight, renal and kidney disorders & other nutritionally related problems. </li><li>Complete comprehensive nutritional assessments, semi-annual and annual reviews for all IRA and Willowbrook Class individual, </li><li>Update diet orders on an ongoing basis, </li><li>Make recommendations to the medical providers and updating diet lists for staff to comply with individuals' diets, </li><li>Perform monthly weight and lab value reviews, on their caseload, staff dietary training & individuals' nutrition education. </li><li>Complete an Annual Nutritional Assessment & Nutritional Diagnosis via the nutritional care process (NCP) for each individual based on his/her nutritional needs for all IRA and Willowbrook individuals. </li><li>Develop staff training plans for employees, on all three shifts, in assigned areas based upon individuals' specific nutritional care needs. </li><li>Develop seasonal menus tailored to the individual's needs, when needed. </li><li>Conduct weekly meal observations. </li><li>Train staff on proper food safety and sanitation and choking prevention. </li><li>Provide nutrition care instructions to individuals and their families and/or providers in Family Care </li><li>Conduct annual sanitation inspections of kitchens and food safety update (Nutrition Protective Oversight report) </li><li>Other duties as assigned appropriate to the title. </li></ul> <p>LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/nys-office-for-people-with-developmental-disabilities/posts/?feedView=all</p> <p>#LI-DL2</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications Promotion:</p> <p>Current registration with the CDR as an RD or certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist by the NYSED, and one year of service as a Dietitian 1.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Reachable on the current Dietitian 2 canvas list.</p> <p>Permanent service as a Dietitian 2 in a New York State agency eligible for transfer.</p> <p>Open Competitive: Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD.</p> <p>Maintains current certification in New York State as a Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist.</p> <p>Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.</p> <p>At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.</p> <ul> <li>If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee. </li><li>Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the Mid-Hudson adjustment. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 ($66,951) and Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($2,000). Mid-Hudson Adjustment is also added to the job rate ($85,138). </li><li>The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies. </li><li>Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
