In fulfillment of its motto, Lux et Spes ("Light and Hope"), the College cultivates in its students the competence to think, act, and lead with courage towards creating a more just and compassionate world.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Associate Director of Student Engagement for First-Year Experience and Leadership Development serves to create, support, and facilitate student engagement for first-year students and develop student leadership initiatives that support our entire campus community. This individual serves as a leader in fostering a campus culture within the Holy Cross tradition and works to advance the College's mission of respecting the inherent dignity of each person. The Associate Director oversees significant aspects of the first-year experience, including chairing the First-Year Experience Committee, organizing the First-Year Experience Course, and advising the First-Year Class Committee. The Associate Director will also be responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing leadership development programs for all students, including the Anchors Leadership Development Program, and collaborating with campus partners to foster a culture of leadership that aligns with the College's mission and commitment to holistic student development. In addition, the Associate Director serves as a generalist in Student Affairs by providing direct support to students, working with assigned committees, and supporting departmental, divisional, and institutional programs.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>First-Year Experience</p> <ul> <li>Chairs the First-Year Experience Committee and coordinates all aspects of the First-Year Experience course, including learning outcomes, curriculum development, recruitment of staff, faculty, and student facilitators, training, classroom scheduling, and assessment. </li><li>Identifies learning outcomes for the FYE program, creates program assessments to collect data and inform curriculum, and reports findings regularly. </li><li>Collaborates with Academic Affairs and other key departments, such as Admissions, Academic Advising, and Intercultural Affairs, to support and engage first-year students to maximize overall student success and retention. </li></ul> <p>Student Leadership Development</p> <ul> <li>Designs and oversees a comprehensive leadership development curriculum that supports students at all levels of their leadership journey. </li><li>Manages and expands signature leadership programs such as the Anchors Leadership Development Program. </li><li>Evaluates and assesses the leadership development program regularly, adjusting the program as necessary. </li><li>Collaborates with faculty and staff to create co-curricular leadership experiences that enhance students' personal and professional growth. </li></ul> <p>Transfer Orientation</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates two small transfer Orientation programs, one in August and one in January </li><li>Serves on the transfer student committee. </li></ul> <p>Student Advising/Mentoring & Campus Programs</p> <ul> <li>Advises the First-Year class committee of the Student Government Association. </li><li>Oversees and maintains the process and record-keeping of student organization travel. </li><li>Recruits, selects, and supervises the Student Engagement graduate assistant and undergraduate OSE Intern. </li><li>Coordinates the annual Ace's Holiday Wonderland event series. </li></ul> <p>Administrative/Collaborative Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Seeks ways within Student Affairs to evidence and support student understanding of the Holy Cross values, and as such possesses an appreciation for liberal arts in the Catholic tradition. </li><li>Participates in campus-wide events such as Skyhawk Welcome Days, Family Weekend, Commencement Eve Reception, etc, as requested. </li><li>Works nights and weekends as required. </li><li>Partners with other Student Affairs staff as indicated and seeks out opportunities to work with others. </li><li>Serves in Student Affairs Staff On-Call rotation. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience</p> <p>A master's degree in student personnel, higher education, or a related field is required. Program development, particularly leadership-related related, skills desirable.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with first-year experience programs and initiatives. </li><li>Experience with program assessment and strategic planning. </li><li>Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating leadership programs and training. </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of the College's Catholic mission and identity and how Catholic traditions and values enhance the student experience. </li><li>Proven commitment to the academic, intellectual, and social development of all students. </li><li>Ability to use a high degree of judgment, tact, and confidentiality. </li><li>Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while ensuring that responsibilities are carried out in an accurate and timely fashion. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff. </li><li>Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to crises. </li><li>Excellent organizational and communication (both written and oral) skills. </li><li>Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within a diverse academic community. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
