Orange County Government is committed to providing equal opportunity in employment and services to all individuals.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>General Functions</p> <p>Responsible educational and administrative work providing an environment conducive to learning for three to five year old children. Persons in this position are responsible for planning and conducting educational and developmentally appropriate activities, assessing educational needs, establishing learning goals and preparing lesson plans.</p> <p>This position requires physical fitness and includes a variety of activities such as running, playing and being actively involved with children. It also includes bending, stooping, and sitting at children's level.</p> <p>Representative Duties/Assignments</p> <ul> <li>Adheres to Head Start performance standards to ensure a high quality classroom environment. </li><li>Provides reports regarding the child outcomes for various area activities. </li><li>Recommends and implements programs that include specific child care practices; current standards of care and service delivery. </li><li>Maintains effective communication system with parents. </li><li>Assesses educational needs of children. </li><li>Establishes learning goals and prepares weekly lesson plans with assistance of Assistant/Aide. </li><li>Makes referrals for assistance with special needs children. </li><li>Makes home visits to each family during school year and provides written progress reports to parents. </li><li>Evaluates performance of Teacher Aide or Teacher Assistant. </li><li>Performs Kitchen and Bus Duty. </li><li>Enters accurate child data into the program's data base (Galileo). </li><li>Performs other related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>A teacher must have at least one of the following qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>An associate, baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education;</p> </li><li> <p>An associate degree in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children;</p> </li><li> <p>A baccalaureate or advanced degree in any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children or;</p> </li><li> <p>A baccalaureate degree in any field and has been admitted into the Teach For America program, passed a rigorous early childhood content exam, such as the Praxis II, participated in a Teach For America summer training institute that includes teaching preschool children, and is receiving ongoing professional development and support from Teach For America's professional staff.</p> </li></ol> <p>In addition to the above, the following are also required:</p> <p>Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.</p> <p>Must successfully pass a Level II Background Screening.</p> <p>Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook and ability to learn and use Galileo.</p> <p>Must complete 45 hours of the Child Care Standards Administrative Code 65C-22.003 (2) & (6) State of Florida mandated training.</p> <p>Must Complete the State of Florida Child Care Staff Credential Verification Application, CF-FSP Form 5211, in order to verify they have met the State of Florida child care licensing qualifications.
