Interested persons should submit an application to the Human Resources Department. This posting will remain open until the position is filled.</p> <p>The purpose of this job is to recognize and eliminate hazardous conditions or behaviors that could result in injury. Thorough knowledge and enforcement of the facility procedures, rules and regulations, forms and reports, and legal issues is required. Lifeguards must be:</p> <ul> <li>Reliable </li><li>Mature </li><li>Courteous and consistent with all staff and patrons </li><li>Positive </li><li>Healthy and fit </li><li>Alert and attentive, maintaining 10/20 at all times while guarding </li><li>Ready and able to react to any and all emergencies </li></ul> <p>This is a seasonal position - Starting pay rate is $12.00/ hour.</p> <p>To apply, you must submit a City of Springdale application at https://www.springdalear.gov/o/springdale/page/current-job-openings</p> <p>Resumes will not be accepted without an accompanying application.</p> <p>This position is classified as safety sensitive.</p> <p>The City of Springdale is an EOE and drug free workplace.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ol> <li>Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team); and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. </li></ol> <p>2.Preventing injuries by eliminating hazardous situations and behavior.</p> <p>3.Recognizing and responding quickly and effectively to all emergency situations.</p> <p>4.Providing emergency care when needed.</p> <p>5.Informing other lifeguards and facility staff when more help or additional equipment is needed.</p> <p>6.Always have a whistle and wear approved swimming suit.</p> <p>7.Be professional; alert; courteous; and always act tactful.</p> <p>8.At least one guard should be on duty on the guard stand whenever there is anyone in the pool. This includes swim lessons; rentals; and open swim.</p> <p>9.Maintain an upright and alert position while on the stand or roving the deck.</p> <p>10.Maintain constant scanning of pool and proper zone coverage; Eyes always on the water.</p> <p>11.Minimize visiting with the public while on the guard stand.</p> <p>12.Not only guard the lives of the patrons; but also maintain discipline among the more active ones so as to ensure the comfort of others. Do not tolerate rowdiness.</p> <p>13.Promptly enforce all facility rules. Always be consistent.</p> <p>14.At the time each shift ends; the guards should remain at their stations until all patrons have cleared the deck.</p> <p>15.In case of illness; notify the managers as early as possible.</p> <p>16.Lifeguards are responsible to work as scheduled. Any deviation from the schedule must have prior approval of the Pool Manager or Assistant Manager.</p> <p>17.When rotating guard positions; one must wait for the next guard to take his/her position to be at their guard stand and watching while he/she climbs down for the stand. At no time should the area be unguarded.</p> <p>18.Maintain proper sun protection. (Always wear sunscreen; sunglasses; and/or hat.)</p> <p>SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES</p> <p>19Educating patrons about facility rules and regulations.</p> <p>20.Helping patrons locate a missing person.</p> <p>21.Maintaining a clean environment.</p> <p>22.Completing safety inspections of equipment.</p> <p>23.Keep all litter picked up and keep all lifeguard; lifesaving and first aid equipment in readiness.</p> <p>24.Completing required reports and forms.</p> <p>25.Teaching swim lessons under the supervision of the Pool Manager.</p> <p>26.Performs other duties as required or assigned.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>None Indicated.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <p>None Indicated.</p> <p>CERTIFICATES; LICENSES; REGISTRATIONS</p> <p>Must be able to possess and obtain Lifeguard; CPR; AED; and First Aid certifications.</p> <p>PUBLIC CONTACT</p> <p>Daily contact with citizens.</p> <p>EMPLOYEE CONTACT</p> <p>Regular contacts within the department and with other departments as needed.</p> <p>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <p>Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
