<p>Project Manager 1st Shift $2,500 New Hire Bonus Overview Greiner Industries is seeking a skilled Project Manager to join our team. The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects involving heavy steel fabrication and mechanical field services. This role actively supports business development efforts by seeking, estimating, quoting, and securing new business. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact between the company, customers, vendors, fabrication shop personnel, and field crews. This position requires strong technical understanding, leadership, communication, and coordination across fabrication and field operations. Key Responsibilities Estimating, Quoting & Bid Preparation Prepare detailed project estimates and cost breakdowns for heavy steel fabrication and mechanical field service work. Develop competitive quotes and proposals that accurately reflect scope, schedule, risks, and execution strategy. Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, field operations, and procurement to validate pricing assumptions. Identify potential project risks and incorporate contingencies into estimates. Business Development & New Work Support Identify and pursue new project opportunities through existing customer relationships and market awareness. Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships to encourage repeat and follow-on work. Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and technical discussions related to potential projects. Support negotiations related to scope changes, contract terms, and pricing. Provide feedback from completed projects to improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness. Project Planning & Execution Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple fabrication and mechanical field service projects from award through closeout. Develop detailed project plans, schedules, manpower forecasts, and budgets. Review contracts, specifications, drawings, and scope documents to ensure full understanding of project requirements. Identify potential risks, constraints, and opportunities and develop mitigation strategies. Fabrication Management Coordinate closely with fabrication shop leadership to ensure work is sequenced, resourced, and executed per schedule. Monitor fabrication progress, quality, and productivity against project plans. Address design clarifications, change orders, and material issues in coordination with the customer and procurement. Field Services & Installation Coordinate mechanical field service activities including erection, installation, piping, mechanical equipment, and shutdowns/turnarounds when applicable. Ensure proper staffing, tools, equipment, and materials are available for field execution. Support field supervision to resolve technical, logistical, and schedule challenges. Cost Control & Financial Management Develop and maintain project budgets and cost forecasts. Track labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and miscellaneous project costs. Manage change orders, pricing, and billing in coordination with management. Support accurate job cost reporting and margin protection. Safety & Quality Ensure all work is planned and executed in compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements. Promote a strong safety culture within both fabrication and field teams. Ensure quality standards and inspection requirements are met or exceeded. Address non-conformances and corrective actions promptly. Communication & Coordination Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned projects. Conduct regular project meetings with internal teams, customers, and subcontractors. Provide clear, timely updates on project status, risks, and changes. Resolve conflicts and maintain productive working relationships across teams. Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, vendors and others in a courteous, respectful and professional manner. Documentation & Close-Out Ensure proper documentation of contracts, RFIs, change orders, schedules, budgets, and project files. Oversee project close-out activities, including punch lists, turnover documentation, and final invoicing. Capture lessons learned to improve future project execution. Minimum Education High School Minimum Years of Experience 4-6 Specific Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Strong understanding of heavy steel fabrication processes (welding, fitting, machining, coatings, etc.). Working knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment installation, and field construction practices. Proficiency in project management tools, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong time management and organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, including shop, field, engineering, safety, and procurement. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and resolve complex problems. Ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Ability to travel to job sites as required. Ability to lead by example with a strong focus on safety, professionalism, and accountability. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management or a related technical field preferred. 5+ years of project management experience in heavy industrial environments, preferably involving: Steel fabrication; Mechanical construction or field services; Industrial, energy, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects 3-5 years minimum, project management experience involving fabrication. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar is a plus. Proficient in blueprint reading.
