<p>The NYC Department of Probation (DOP) is a world leader in working creatively and effectively engaging with people under court-mandated community supervision. Following the best current data on "what works," staff at DOP engage in meaningful relationships with those on probation to enhance community safety and decrease recidivism.</p> <p>Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for all IT functions within the Department of Probation (DOP), ensuring that technology initiatives align closely with the agency's core mission of public safety, justice reform, and community engagement. Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy and roadmap that emphasizes equity, transparency, accessibility, security, and regulatory compliance. Oversee the full spectrum of IT operations including network infrastructure, systems administration, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, cloud services, and service desk support to maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing technology environments that meet both operational and legal requirements.</p> <p>Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technology projects, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations effectively. Champion data governance and integration efforts to ensure the integrity, transparency, and secure sharing of critical information across internal teams and external city and state partners. Manage vendor procurement and contract performance to optimize service quality, cost efficiency, and compliance with city policies. Act as the primary IT advisor to executive leadership on matters related to digital transformation, systems modernization, cybersecurity risk management, and IT operations.</p> <p>Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, equity, continuous improvement, and accountability. Collaborate closely with key external stakeholders, including NYC OTI, NYC Cyber Command, and NYS ITS, to ensure DOP's IT systems meet public safety standards and support cross-agency technology initiatives. Maintain a proactive approach to cybersecurity, risk assessments, and incident response to safeguard sensitive data and promote resilient, efficient service delivery across the agency.</p> <ul> <li>Maximum salary is not guaranteed. </li></ul> <p>DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PROBATION ( - 51876</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time experience in probation services, social work, criminal justice, investigations or a related field, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or</p> <p>Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. A graduate degree from an accredited institution in social work, sociology, psychology, criminal justice or a related field may be substituted for general experience on a year for year basis for up to a maximum of two years. However, all candidates must have the 18 months of experience in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity.</p> <p>Preferred Skills</p> <p>Education: o A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in a relevant field is highly preferred. Experience: o At least 10 years of progressively responsible IT management experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing a large IT department in a government, public safety, or public sector environment. o Demonstrated experience leading complex IT initiatives, including network infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and service management in a mission-critical environment. o Proven success in managing large-scale projects and interagency collaborations, particularly in the context of public safety or government technology services. Certifications: o CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or equivalent security certifications required. o Additional certifications in IT project management (e.g., PMP), cloud technologies, or ITIL are highly desirable. Knowledge & Skills: o Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (CJIS, NIST, HIPAA, etc.), cloud technologies, and regulatory compliance. o Expertise in data governance, cloud service management, and IT risk management. o Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to manage and inspire diverse teams. o In-depth knowledge of government IT procurement processes, contract management, and vendor relationship management. o Ability to manage competing priorities, effectively allocate resources, and maintain high levels of service while driving innovation and operational efficiency.
