<p>Location: City of Aberdeen</p> <p>Department: Department of Public Works</p> <p>Environmental Worker - Entry Level: Pay Starts at $20.45 / hourly</p> <p>The entry-level candidate will be trained to perform the duties of the collection of all kinds of refuse within the City of Aberdeen. Picks up garbage and other refuse such as recyclables, yard waste, bulk items, etc., and places it on the truck.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Work involves frequent standing, stooping and bending. </li><li>Also, must stoop, kneel or crawl when performing certain task. </li><li>Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift and up to 100 pounds with assistance, while demonstrating the principals of safe lifting. </li><li>Demonstrates the applicable safety precautions related to a rear-loaded refuse truck. </li><li>Incumbent works inside and outside; outside work is performed in all kinds of climatic conditions </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work in all weather conditions </li><li>The ability to communicate orally and in writing and the ability to work as a member of a team. </li><li>Must be able to complete the required physical labor for the entire shift. </li><li>Must be able to quickly understand and adhere to safety requirements of this position. </li><li>Heavy physical labor experience is preferred. </li><li>A high school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. </li><li>Basic computer skills </li></ul> <p>.</p>
