<p>Title: Administrative Assistant-Business Office (Chesapeake)</p> <p>Agency: Tidewater Community College</p> <p>Location: Chesapeake - 550</p> <p>FLSA: Nonexempt</p> <p>Hiring Range: $16.26 per hour, part time</p> <p>Full Time or Part Time: Part Time</p> <p>Additional Detail</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads - both students and employers - for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 25,000 students in 2024-25. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,399 graduates in 2024-2025, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 33% enrolled at TCC. TCC's institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.</p> <p>This position provides administrative clerical support to the campus Business Manager and administrative support in all aspects of the Business Office, to include all revenue due and collections.</p> <p>Functional Responsibilities:</p> <p>The Administrative and Office Specialist III will perform a variety of tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Reviewing Travel and Professional Development for correctness and completeness </li><li>Assisting and training admin assistants with travel and professional development when needed </li><li>Creating EVA orders. </li><li>Assisting and training admin assistants in EVA when needed </li><li>Assisting students and the general public by answering inquires related to fiscal policies and the operation of the Business Office. </li><li>Collect tuition and fee revenue due to the college to include local funds for various student activities and past due financial aid receivables. </li><li>Review tuition refund reports </li><li>Review approved tuition assistance documents and attach students to third party contracts </li><li>Process HRT bus passes, Meal Plans, and StormDollar deposits </li><li>Back-up duplicating tech and mailroom clerk </li><li>Perform all other duties and tasks that may be assigned by the Business Manager/Cashier Office Supervisor </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to organize and prioritize diverse duties in a customer service environment. </li><li>Experience in bookkeeping, business, industry, retail sales, or banking. </li><li>Experience in cashiering functions including handling large sums of money. </li><li>Ability to review and interpret contracts. </li><li>Ability to create documents and manipulate data in word processing and spread sheet software (such as MS Word, MS Excel). </li><li>Ability to monitoring budgets using accounting system, spreadsheets or databases. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a diverse clientele. </li><li>Knowledge of effective customer service and problem solving techniques </li></ul> <p>Additional Considerations:</p> <ul> <li>Education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience. </li><li>Knowledge of state policies and procedures governing travel and purchase actions. </li><li>Experience in a college or university finance office </li></ul>
