<p>Nature of Work</p> <p>The mission of the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration is to regulate, enforce, and control the sales and distribution, transportation, storage, and consumption of alcoholic liquors and nonintoxicating beer as mandated by the West Virginia Liquor Control and Nonintoxicating Beer Act. This position will be responsible for maintenance of the online transaction process for processing applications, the databases that control the distribution, inventory and sale of spirits, wine and beer, and any troubleshooting needs.</p> <p>Ideal Candidate Must:</p> <ul> <li>Be prepared to perform all work in an expeditious and efficient manner with attention to detail and according to current guidelines and directives. </li><li>Be able to work independently, meet deadlines and interpret and apply procedures based on the task at hand. </li><li>Have a working knowledge of business etiquette, good grammar, spelling and math skills. </li><li>Have the ability to compose standard business correspondences. </li><li>Utilize, with proficiency, all standard office machinery including computers, tablets, copy machines, scanners, multi-line phone system as well as standard and job specialized software. </li><li>Communicates verbally and electronically with other agency departments, the general public and, if necessary, WVABCA licensee(s) regarding questions, concerns and inquiries. </li><li>Maintain the ability to retain information and assess issues quickly and respond appropriately. </li><li>At all times, maintain confidentiality. </li></ul> <p>Ideal Candidate Will:</p> <ul> <li>Develop, design, test, maintain and support custom mobile and web applications using .NET languages (C#, VB .NET). </li><li>Develop, design, test, maintain and support custom mobile and web applications using JSON, XML, JavaScript, CSS and HTML languages. </li><li>Write code that is clean, efficient, scalable, and dependable. </li><li>Design, develop, and test new features in custom developed applications. </li><li>Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle. </li><li>Report and resolve issues related to custom developed projects. </li><li>Participate in design and planning discussions regarding custom mobile and web applications. </li><li>Follow best practices using version control to collaborate and track code changes. </li><li>Upgrade, configure, and debug existing systems. </li><li>Provide technical support for web, desktop or mobile applications. </li><li>Be required to effectively interact with all WVABCA departments, staff and licensees in a courteous and professional manner. </li><li>Be responsible for his/her own work within the framework of desired objectives, priorities and deadlines. </li><li>At the discretion of the Commissioner and the Information Technology Department Director, other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Click The APPLY Link To Apply Online.</p> <p>IMPORTANT:Your eligibility will be based on information provided in your resume or application; therefore, make sure your resume or application is detailed and complete. To receive an email notice anytime jobs in this or other categories are posted, you may choose to complete aJob Interest Cardfrom the slide-out menu located at the top left of ourJob Opportunitiespage.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or related field including but not limited to business data programming, business systems analysis, computer accounting, computer and information systems, computer servicing technologies, information systems management, data processing, or computer engineering.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>An Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or business school in computer science or related field including but not limited to business data programming, business systems analysis, computer accounting, computer and information systems, computer servicing technologies, information systems management, data processing, or computer engineering and eighteen months of full-time or equivalent part-time paid computer programming experience in one or more programming or data base languages.</p> <p>Substitution: Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid computer programming experience in one or more programming or data base languages may substitute for the required training.</p> <p>Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid computer programming experience in one or more programming or data base languages, including one year of analysis work.</p> <p>Other Information</p> <p>Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Visual Basic.</p>
