<p>The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:</p> <p>Position: HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER - Wellness</p> <p>Job Description: The position of a Health and Physical Education Teacher is to deliver instruction according to the health and physical education frameworks and curriculum. As a primary source for students to develop healthy attitudes and become informed decision makers about their general health and lifestyle choices, the teacher will provide engaging lessons and materials appropriate for the grade level of their assigned students.</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>This position will focus on student awareness of healthy habits in both exercise and lifestyle choices. </li><li>Create engaging lessons around nutritional information and healthy nutritional habits. </li><li>Teach age appropriate lessons about exercise and the student's physical development. </li><li>Teach skills, knowledge, and healthy attitudes based on Health Frameworks and curriculum. </li><li>Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for a productive learning environment. </li><li>Participate in the development and implementation of Standards Based Units. </li><li>Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school department and or in self-selected professional growth activities. </li><li>Explain, interpret, and involve the entire school building staff, parents, and support services in the Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Program. </li><li>Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing student health, attitudes, and learning problems. </li><li>All other responsibilities listed in the collective bargaining agreement between the FREA and the Fall River School Committee. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Appropriate Massachusetts Certification required </li><li>Bachelor's Degree with a major in Physical Education, Health or Exercise Science </li></ul> <p>The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification.
