Join the team shaping the future of the amenity experience.</p> <p>Who we are (WMCT)</p> <p>WMCT, a registered 501(c)3 committed to growing the game of tennis through meaningful outreach.</p> <p>WMCT was formed in early 2014 and consists of a group of West Michigan area residents with experiences as players, nationally renowned coaches, parents, patrons, and volunteers.</p> <p>WMCT is using the benchmark that was established by the Greater Grand Rapids Tennis Patrons, whose focus since the early 60s has been to increase interest and participation in the sport of tennis and to bring tennis opportunities to the underserved in our community.</p> <p>Job information more specific to our facility:</p> <p>We are West Michigan Community Tennis based in Grandville.</p> <p>This role is responsible for delivering high-quality one-on-one personal training, small group training, TRX classes, and general group fitness sessions. The ideal candidate will also have experience or interest in working with youth athletes, specifically supporting tennis performance development. The successful candidate will be energetic, professional, and passionate about helping clients of all ages and fitness levels achieve their goals.</p> <p>Are you the kind of trainer who brings energy into a room the moment you walk in? This is an opportunity to build a following, grow a client base, and make a real impact in our fitness and tennis community.</p> <p>We are specifically seeking a strong evening coach who can own the floor during peak hours - building relationships, delivering results, and creating an environment members look forward to walking into. A unique part of this role is working with youth athletes focused on tennis performance. If you enjoy coaching kids and shaping the next generation of athletes, this is a major opportunity.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Personal Trainer is responsible for working one-on-one with clients to create customized fitness programs tailored to their individual goals. Personal Trainers guide, motivate, and monitor clients' performance, ensuring proper exercise techniques and a safe, effective workout experience.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a client base by meeting or exceeding personal training sales goals as set by the facility manager. </li><li>Deliver personalized training sessions that meet the client's goals and fitness level. </li><li>Ensure clients use equipment correctly and perform exercises with proper form to prevent injury. </li><li>Promote all facility programs and services, referring clients to additional offerings for a well-rounded experience. </li><li>Stay informed on the facility's calendar of events, programs, and promotions. </li><li>Keep current with industry trends, training techniques, and health and wellness best practices. </li><li>Participate in facility events, member engagement activities, and staff meetings as directed. </li><li>Provide outstanding customer service and solicit guest feedback via comment cards and other tools. </li><li>Enforce access policies to ensure a safe, secure, and member-only environment. </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned by management. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <p>Education & Certification</p> <ul> <li> <p>College degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field (preferred).</p> </li><li> <p>Current certification from a nationally recognized agency (e.g., ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA, NSPA).</p> </li><li> <p>CPR, First Aid, and other safety certifications as required by the client.</p> </li><li> <p>TRX Certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)</p> </li><li> <p>Group Fitness Certification (preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with youth athletes (tennis experience strongly preferred)</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience & Skills</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated ability to educate and motivate clients across all fitness levels. </li><li>Able to work with all fitness levels from high school athletes to seniors. </li><li>Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates. </li><li>Excellent customer service skills and a strong work ethic. </li><li>Well-organized, efficient, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. </li><li>Professional appearance, demeanor, and discretion. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational personality. </li><li>Team-oriented mindset and willingness to contribute to the success of the team. </li><li>Must be adaptable to a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand for extended periods of time. </li><li>Frequent walking, jogging, and dynamic movement. </li><li>Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and lift. </li><li>Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Use of hands and arms for equipment handling and training demonstrations. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff. </li><li>Exposure to typical fitness environment conditions (noise, smells, varying temperatures). </li></ul> <p>Essential Function</p> <p>Seldom</p> <p>Occasionally</p> <p>Frequently</p> <p>Stationary Position -- Sitting or Standing</p> <p>X</p> <p>Active Position -- Walking, jogging, running</p> <p>X</p> <p>Use of hands/fingers -- Operate, Use, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position, Prepare, activate</p> <p>X</p> <p>Climb/Balance -- Stairs, ladders, ropes, equipment, beams</p> <p>X</p> <p>Stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl -- Position self, move</p> <p>X</p> <p>Talk/hear -- communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information</p> <p>X</p> <p>See -- Detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess</p> <p>X</p> <p>Carry weight, lift -- Move, transport, position, put, install, remove -- 50 lbs or less</p> <p>X</p> <p>Carry weight, lift -- Move, transport, position, put, install, remove -- 50 lbs or more</p> <p>X</p> <p>Exposure to -- Exposed, work around, chemicals, odors, smells, noise, indoors or outdoors, heat, cool.</p> <p>X</p> <p>DISCLAIMER</p> <p>The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodation will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
