<p>Provide security screening of persons and property having access to the cabin of an aircraft by means of available screening equipment such as hand-held metal detectors and physical inspections to prevent hijacking or other criminial acts. The screening provides security for the aircraft, airports, air carriers and staff.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <ol> <li> <p>High School diploma or G.E.D.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous airline experience preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous experience in security, military, public contact preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be a U.S. citizen.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be 18 years of age or older.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have reliable telephone and transportation.</p> </li></ol> <p>B. PERSONAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ol> <li> <p>Treat all information as confidential.</p> </li><li> <p>Possess the tact to deal with all levels of situations, client representatives, employees and the public.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to lift, carry and/or hold up to 75 lbs.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical exam may be required to confirm the above.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to read identification badges, credentials and labels on bottles, aerosol cans and packages.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to open and close latches, zippers and screw caps. Remove and feel beneath baggage contents and reach all sides of a bag.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and audible alarms generated by metal detection devices with other noise in the background.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to reach all parts of the standing adult body with one hand or a hand-held metal detector.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have manual dexterity to operate hand wand, and to search luggage and various shaped items and packages.</p> </li><li> <p>May be exposed to hazards resulting from investigation of alarms/other irregularities.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to verbally direct in English.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to sit, stand, lift and/or bend throughout the shift.</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests.</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass pre-employment background check.</p> </li></ol> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Must be familiar with all Government/Airport/Client and Company regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Deals courteously and communicate effectively with fellow employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate safety hazards and equipment problems to managers.</p> </li><li> <p>Must conduct physical searches and take proper action upon detection of a questionable or dangerous item.</p> </li><li> <p>Notify or ensure immediate notification of Airline Ground Security Coordinator when necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure safe handling of dangerous or deadly weapons/objects discovered until arrival of the Airline GSC.</p> </li><li> <p>Contact Law Enforcement Officer if items of contraband (illegal items) are discovered during the screening process. Maintain control of items until arrival of the L.E.O.</p> </li><li> <p>Verbally detain persons (no physical restraint to be used) when appropriate, without jeopardizing his/her safety or that of others in the immediate vicinity.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide screened personnel with appropriate incident reports for lost or damaged property or personal injury.</p> </li><li> <p>Test Screening Equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Record all operational tests on flight activity log.</p> </li><li> <p>Be neat and careful when handling other people's property especially luggage.</p> </li><li> <p>Report all Government tests, real weapons, injuries and other major incidents to supervisor immediately.</p> </li><li> <p>Keep supervisor informed of needs and problems in assigned areas, maintain cleanliness of immediate work area and report maintenance needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Project a positive image and respond to inquiries from clients, staff and public in a courteous manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend meetings and in-services as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize appropriate communications channels and maintain records, reports and files as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be in proper uniform or business attire as directed by company officials.</p> </li><li> <p>Identification badges must always be visible.</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to company policies and procedures and participate in achievement of company objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize company and client equipment, supplies and resources in a conscientious, cost effective manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as requested.</p> </li></ol>
